Job Description:

Preventive and scheduled maintenance :

Develop, implement, and track preventive maintenance (PM) programs for all heavy equipment.
Schedule routine inspections and service intervals based on manufacturer recommendations and usage data. 
Maintain spare parts inventories and reorder levels to minimize downtime.
Diagnostics and troubleshooting

Perform fault finding on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems. 
Determine whether repairs can be done in-house or require outsource specialists.
 

 Repairs and overhauls :

Carry out or supervise mechanical repairs, component replacements, hydraulic system work, brake and steering maintenance, and mechanical system servicing. 
Test and verify repairs, road-test equipment, and ensure proper function before return to service.
 

Lubrication and wear management :

Implement lubrication schedules for all moving parts and hydraulic fittings. 
Monitor wear parts (filters, seals, pins, bushings) and manage replacement plans to prevent unexpected failures.
 

Documentation and data management :

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and work orders.
Track equipment hours, downtime, parts usage, and service history for lifecycle analysis. 
Generate reports on maintenance performance, MTBF/MTTR metrics, downtime maintenance cost per hour and cost of ownership (provide insights to management). 
Update maintenance logs, service histories, downtime records, and parts usage in the maintenance management system.
 

Reliability and optimization :

Analyze failure trends to identify chronic issues and implement corrective actions
Recommend design or process changes to improve reliability and uptime. 
Optimize maintenance intervals based on usage patterns, operating conditions, and manufacturer guidance.
 

Safety and quality regulatory compliance :

Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards, manufacturer requirements, and local regulations. 
Enforce lockout/tagout procedures, safe lifting practices.  
Verify that equipment is safe to operate after service, including functional checks and test runs. 
Maintain accurate, legible service records, warranty documentation, and audit[1]ready reports.
Procurement and vendor coordination

Source parts, lubricants, and consumables; negotiate with suppliers for price and lead times
 

Planning and coordination with operations :

Schedule maintenance to minimize impact on production and project timelines. 
Communicate status of repairs and expected downtime to site managers and operators. 
Provide guidance on equipment utilization, de-rating, or temporary replacements during maintenance.
