Duties and Responsibilities

5.1u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0To make the cardio-pulmonary bypass pump ready for operation by assembling the sterile components and by operation of the required solutions, etc. for pre-operative charging of the circuits, monitoring the acid base state of the priming solutions.

5.2u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0To monitor the process of connecting the patients circulation to the cardio-pulmonary bypass pump.

5.3u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0To supervise the coding of the patient before surgery, especially with regard to pediatric patientu2019s and including profound hypothermia leading to circulatory arrest.

5.4u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0To control the pump rates, pharmaceutical input acid/base balance and hemodynamic status during surgery, collaborating with the surgeon and anesthetist.

5.5u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0To supervise re-warming of the patient following surgery and to monitor the disconnection process, balancing the patientu2019s circulation by titration of blood volume of the patient from the machine within the narrow range.

  • Ability to cooperate and act logically, especially during emergencies.
  • Knowledge of the basic mechanics of the heart/lung machine, and ability to carry out routine maintenance.

Education

Bachelor degree in perfusion Technology or equivalent
