Job Description:**Warehouse and Logistics Manager – Key Responsibilities:**

This position is responsible for the comprehensive management of warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics coordination, team supervision and training, health and safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives within the context of a steel foundry and iron casting environment.

**Detailed Responsibilities:**

* **Warehouse Operations:** Oversee the receiving, inspection, and secure storage of raw materials (e.g., steel billets, alloys, chemicals) utilized in casting production. Maintain the proper storage of finished castings, ensuring protection from damage and corrosion. Monitor and optimize warehouse space to accommodate heavy and oversized steel castings, optimizing layout for operational efficiency. Collaborate with the production team to ensure the seamless delivery of required materials to the foundry floor.

* **Inventory Control:** Maintain accurate tracking and management of warehouse inventory, including casting raw materials, maintenance supplies, and finished products. Conduct regular stock counts of high-value materials (e.g., metals and alloys) to ensure accuracy in stock levels and minimize discrepancies. Implement and maintain a robust system for tracking high-demand and high-cost materials. Identify materials nearing expiry or representing excess stock and report findings for potential recycling or disposal.

* **Logistics Coordination:** Coordinate with internal and external logistics teams to ensure the timely transportation of materials, both inbound and outbound, in accordance with production schedules. Manage logistics for large-scale shipping and receiving, ensuring the safe handling of heavy castings, steel components, and other large items. Ensure that shipping documentation (including hazardous material handling) complies with all applicable local and international regulations pertaining to steel and foundry materials.

* **Team Supervision & Training:** Lead and supervise warehouse staff, ensuring adherence to operational standards, safety procedures, and quality expectations specific to the steel foundry and iron casting environment. Provide training to warehouse team members on material handling techniques to prevent damage to heavy castings and other sensitive items. Ensure warehouse staff possess comprehensive knowledge of the handling and storage requirements for hazardous materials used in the casting process. Foster a culture of accountability and teamwork, emphasizing efficiency and safety within the manufacturing environment.

* **Health, Safety & Compliance:** Implement and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and industry standards for material handling in a high-risk environment. Conduct regular safety audits and safety drills to prevent accidents, particularly related to handling large, heavy materials or hazardous substances used in casting production. Ensure the warehouse complies with all environmental standards regarding waste disposal and material handling, especially for metal scraps and used chemicals. Ensure the proper labeling, storage, and disposal of all hazardous waste materials in accordance with environmental regulations.

* **Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing:** Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize warehouse operations and reduce material waste, in alignment with Lean manufacturing principles. Analyze and propose improvements to warehouse processes to ensure faster material turnover and reduce lead times for casting production. Collaborate with the production team to ensure efficient raw material utilization and minimize scrap rates in the foundry process. Implement best practices for storing and handling scrap metals to support recycling and minimize wastage.

**Qualifications and Requirements:**

* Diploma or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
* 3–5 years of experience in warehouse management, preferably in a steel foundry, heavy manufacturing, or industrial environment.
* Proficiency in warehouse and inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
* Familiarity with the specific material handling needs of a steel and iron casting factory, including relevant safety standards for metals and chemicals.
* Demonstrated leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and train warehouse teams.
* Experience with the operation of forklifts and other heavy material handling equipment, with relevant certifications.
* Comprehensive understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance, particularly for manufacturing and foundry environments.
