Position Overview: Superintendent The Superintendent is responsible for the technical management, maintenance coordination, and procurement activities for a fleet of workboats. This role ensures optimal vessel availability, adherence to stringent safety and regulatory standards, and cost-effective procurement of spares, consumables, and services. This dual responsibility combines technical oversight with procurement efficiency, ensuring seamless operations and optimized costs across the fleet. Key Responsibilities: Technical Management: Oversee the daily technical operations of assigned vessels, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant performance. Plan and coordinate routine and preventive maintenance schedules in collaboration with vessel crews and shore-based teams. Conduct vessel inspections, document findings, and prepare comprehensive reports outlining condition, performance, and maintenance requirements. Supervise dry-docking operations, repairs, and vessel modifications, including the preparation of detailed technical specifications and budgetary estimates. Liaise with classification societies, flag authorities, and port state control inspectors to ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations. Procurement & Supply Chain: Source, evaluate, and procure technical spares, lubricants, stores, and services for the fleet. Negotiate contracts, price agreements, and delivery terms with suppliers and service providers to achieve optimal value. Develop and maintain a comprehensive supplier database, ensuring adherence to quality standards and cost-effectiveness. Monitor inventory levels, manage logistics, and optimize supply chain operations for vessels operating in diverse locations (UAE, GCC, or internationally). Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring strict adherence to company budgets and established procurement procedures. Financial & Reporting: Prepare detailed maintenance and purchasing budgets for assigned vessels. Monitor expenditure and report variances against approved budgets. Contribute to the development and monitoring of fleet performance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), cost control measures, and operational improvement initiatives. HSE & Compliance: Ensure all operations are conducted in full compliance with company QHSE policies and relevant maritime regulations. Promote a strong safety culture onboard vessels and within the technical department. Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions as required to prevent recurrence. Additional Information: Location: Dubai or Abu Dhabi Salary: Commensurate with experience Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related maritime discipline. Minimum of 5-8 years of proven experience in vessel technical management, preferably with workboats, tugs, or offshore support vessels. Comprehensive knowledge of classification society and flag state requirements. Demonstrated experience in procurement, vendor management, and cost control. Familiarity with computerized maintenance and purchasing systems (experience with MARAD is advantageous). Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English.
