Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dubai, UAE. As a Sr. Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and controlling all aspects of the commercial and contractual elements of the project. Your expertise will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects within budget and on time.

Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of contracts, including details regarding quantities of required materials
  2. Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labor costs
  3. Preparing, negotiating, and analyzing costs for tenders and contracts
  4. Coordination with project teams to ensure proper cost control and reporting
  5. Monitoring and analyzing project costs against budget, identifying and addressing any variances
  6. Preparing and submitting progress claims and variation claims
  7. Reviewing and advising on contractual obligations and rights
  8. Preparing and maintaining a risk and value management plan
  9. Providing advice on contractual claims and disputes
  10. Conducting site visits to evaluate progress and compliance with contractual requirements
  11. Ensure prompt and regular submission of main contract Interim payment application along with supporting documents and negotiate with consultant to receive timely certification.
  12. Preparation of Statement at completion and Final Account along with supporting documents
  13. Advice and discuss with project manager and contracts manager on cost implication of variations
  14. Prepare estimate for extra works, preparation of variations, negotiating and follow-up variations with consultant.
  15. Unit rate analysis and new rate build-up
  16. Maintaining a variation log that tracks the current status of all variations, substantiation, negotiation and agreement of variations with the client/ consultant.
  17. Prepare quantity take off from IFC drawings & BOQ preparation for sub-contract agreements.
  18. Compiling enquiries for Sub-contractors’ and Suppliers to request for quotations (RFQ)
  19. Analyze the changes of drawing for sub-contract payment based on actual progress
  20. Field visits to evaluate and certify the quantity of work done before any certification of sub-contractor/supplier payment and conduct re-measurement/site measurement if required
  21. Review, evaluation and certification of sub-contractor payment application.

Preferred Candidate:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Engineering, or a related field
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in quantity surveying or commercial engineering
  3. Knowledge of local construction regulations and practices in Dubai, UAE
  4. Proven track record of successful project delivery within budget and time constraints
  5. Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and standards
  6. Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  7. Excellent English at all aspects, Arabic is a plus
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  9. Detail-oriented and highly organized
  10. Proficient in relevant software applications such as MS Excel, AutoCAD, and cost estimation software
