**About The Team**
The Solutions Architecture team is responsible for ensuring the secure and effective implementation of Generative AI applications for developers and enterprise clients. Acting as trusted advisors and strategic partners, the team collaborates with customers to develop a robust pipeline of Generative AI use cases tailored to their specific industry needs and facilitates their progression to production through comprehensive technical guidance. OpenAI’s clientele encompasses a diverse spectrum, ranging from nascent startups to established multinational corporations.
**About The Role**
We are seeking a technically astute and business-oriented Solutions Architect to spearhead the advancement of cutting-edge AI solutions with our strategic startup partners. In this role, you will guide high-potential AI startups through the phases of ideation, development, delivery, and scaling, maximizing the value derived from our platform. You will engage with pioneering applications of our API, providing invaluable feedback to internal Product and Research teams. Collaboration with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product teams is integral to this position, which reports to the Startups Solutions Architecture Lead.
This position is based at our San Francisco headquarters. We operate under a hybrid work model requiring three days per week in the office and offer relocation assistance to eligible new employees.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Collaborate closely with strategic startup clients, serving as a trusted technical advisor in the development of innovative applications leveraging our API, facilitating rapid progression from conceptualization to scaled deployment.
* Provide proactive guidance aimed at maximizing business impact and accelerating application development timelines.
* Engage in collaborative experimentation and prototyping with clients, demonstrating practical use cases and value propositions.
* Contribute to open-source initiatives and scale the function by sharing expertise, codifying best practices, and publishing valuable resources.
* Synthesize and deliver actionable feedback to the Product and Research teams.
* Cultivate relationships within the startup ecosystem, functioning as a technical resource for individual clients and the broader community.
**Qualifications:**
* A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, ML Engineer, or equivalent role, preferably within a startup environment. Experience as a founder or founding engineer is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated passion for the startup ecosystem and a belief in their potential to evolve into future large enterprises.
* Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and a strong understanding of AI/LLM best practices.
* Experience building and/or deploying prototypes using our API platform.
* Proactive identification of opportunities to maximize clients’ business value through strategic utilization of the OpenAI API.
* Demonstrated ability to assume end-to-end ownership of projects, proactively acquiring necessary knowledge to ensure successful completion.
* A humble demeanor, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to supporting colleagues to achieve team success.
* Exceptional operational efficiency, with the capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize effectively.
