Hybrid Working Model Engine by Starling operates under a hybrid working model, prioritizing in-person collaboration and interaction. Candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance of one of our offices. This role may require occasional travel, including international travel, depending on client engagements. The Opportunity We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Solution Architect to join our core Engine team in Dubai, focusing on establishing, growing, and scaling our Middle Eastern business. The successful candidate will ensure the successful implementation of the Engine Platform for our clients in the region. This role demands a blend of deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and collaborative abilities. As an Engine expert, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of our architecture, technology, and functionality, enabling you to effectively communicate its capabilities and value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including prospective clients. You will serve as a trusted advisor, guiding and challenging clients to maximize the value of their technology investments. Key Responsibilities: Business Development: Confidently articulate the technology adoption cycle to stakeholders at all levels, from executive leadership to developers. Support sales and business development teams by establishing trusted advisor relationships and cultivating a strong network with decision-makers and senior technical stakeholders. Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and engineers to develop client solutions and provide client insights to inform product strategy. Support implementation partners and system integrators (SIs) in understanding the Engine Platform. Contribute to formal Request for Proposals (RFPs) and informal client workshops and proposals from a technical perspective. Support clients with sandbox environments and Proof of Concepts (PoCs). Client Discovery & Delivery: Support the requirements gathering process and provide technical expertise to manage scope and contribute to solution design. Support the planning for discovery alongside the Product team and help to estimate build and delivery timelines/effort Help determine technical risk and engineering effort associated with a client solution and suggest mitigation options Interface with the Product & Delivery teams, articulating client requirements, to ensure smooth transition from Sales to Delivery. Collaborate closely with Engine Engineering and Product teams to design, build, and deliver new features, encompassing initial concepts to deployed APIs, mobile journeys, and Management Portal enhancements. Client Success: Collaborate closely with our Client Success team to troubleshoot technical issues, translate client needs into new technical requirements, and architect innovative solutions that enhance the Engine platform. Provide expert guidance to client engineering teams, utilizing documentation, API specifications, and sequence diagrams to foster a deep understanding of Engine’s architecture and functionalities. Take ownership of the technical aspects of client deliveries, collaborating closely with our SI partners to overcome challenges, understand best practice and achieve seamless integrations. Shape Engine’s product roadmap and supporting sales efforts through technical demos and client workshops. Qualifications: Essential: Demonstrated experience in end-to-end software engineering and solution architecture across the software delivery lifecycle. Proven experience with software service design and integration, including RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and sequence diagrams. Significant experience in a client-facing role, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders. Exceptional interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Desirable: Experience in retail or business banking, core banking, card processing, or payments. Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and large-scale cloud applications. Experience in the delivery and implementation of core banking or large-scale digital transformation programs, application migration, and solution integration. Ability to rapidly understand client problems and present structured and informative technical solutions. Proficiency with AWS or GCP, Microservices, RESTful APIs, Java, and PostgreSQL. Understanding of key challenges faced by banks dealing with existing legacy systems. Interview Process Our interview process is designed to be a two-way conversation, allowing you to learn about us as we learn about you. We encourage you to come prepared with questions and a curious mindset. 1. Initial screening with a member of the Talent Acquisition team (~25 minutes). 2. First Interview: Phone interview(s) with Engine team members (30-60 minutes total). 3. Second Interview: Architecture interview, including a small presentation/system design (90 minutes). 4.
