Summary

Building petabyte scale distributed systems for data processing, analysis, and reporting powered by rest APIs. This includes building, data processing pipelines, warehousing and retrieving at scale along with analyzing the data to provide insights and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Build data processing pipelines using Spark/Pig/hive and oozie which include complex transformations coding in Java/Python

• Extensive coding/scripting in Java/Scala, Python, pig/hive/sql etc.

• Designing various components of Big Data analytics systems for ETL using pig/spark/hive, analytics using sql and BI tools and datastores/tools like hadoop, druid, vertica, hbase, presto, oracle, kafka etc.

• Building and enhancing rest API to expose the data

• Collaborate with product owners/managers to gather requirements, translate them to tasks, prioritize and plan the work and deliver as an individual contributor and/or as a part of a team.

• Ensure quality of the data using unit and functional and integration tests.

• Organize, operate and improve when required, Agile processes and practices with the teams

• Support the Infrastructure/product/platform by coordinating with various tiers of production engineers and by being developer on-call at the pre-defined rotation.

• Gain insights on what drives performance in terms of reach and revenue growth

• Build dashboards and reports that provide analysis and commentary, explaining product, sales, and business trends for Executive reporting

• Generate and go deep on consumer insights and competitive intelligence to help teams drive product innovation and iteration

• Build strong partnerships with product, sales, analysts, and marketing teams and enable them to launch new Growth initiatives for testing/iteration

• Provide feedback to product, sales and analysts teams on impact of product launches, target launch metrics, A|B testing, post-launch metrics

• Monitor data quality and Investigate any abnormalities and partner closely with product and other component teams to remediate 

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent

• Minimum 5+ years of industry experience

• Strong programming skills like Java/Python/Scala.

• Medium to strong SQL knowledge required to answer complex business questions via SQL queries. 

• Solid understanding of best practices around Software Design Patterns, software development cycle, release engineering, continuous /integration/delivery CI/CD.

• Deep expertise in software development, architecture design, supporting, debugging and tuning systems and technologies.

• Understanding of the Big Data/Analytics technologies stack like ETL, Oozie, Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Kafka, Druid, Storm, Spark etc.

• Expertise with AWS cloud platform and containerization would be a plus.

• Good written & oral communication skills are essential. 

• Demonstrate use of analytics, metrics, and benchmarking to drive decisions

• Team player in driving growth results combined with a positive attitude
