Job Description:**Job Description: Site Quantity Surveying Engineer**
The organization seeks a highly motivated Site Quantity Surveying (QS) Engineer to contribute to our solar construction team. The incumbent will be responsible for the meticulous monitoring of executed quantities on-site, the preparation and validation of progress invoices, the diligent management of material usage in accordance with contractual agreements, the provision of support for procurement decisions through comprehensive make-or-buy analyses, and the assistance in cost estimation endeavors. Reporting to the Cost Control Manager, the QS Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring financial accuracy and commercial efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
**Responsibilities:**
1. **Invoicing and Quantity Verification:**
* Conduct precise measurement and verification of actual quantities executed at the site, aligning with contract Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and associated drawings.
* Generate accurate monthly progress invoices for clients and subcontractors.
* Maintain meticulous records of executed work in relation to planned quantities for comprehensive project tracking and reporting purposes.
2. **Material Management & Contract Compliance:**
* Monitor material deliveries, usage, and on-site inventory to ensure alignment with project progress milestones.
* Track and report material consumption rates, comparing actual usage against allowable quantities as stipulated in the contract.
* Ensure strict adherence to contractual terms and conditions concerning material supply, storage protocols, and handover procedures.
* Identify and escalate any discrepancies, instances of wastage, or overuse of materials in close collaboration with site and procurement teams.
3. **Make-or-Buy Analysis Support:**
* Assist in the rigorous evaluation of construction items and activities to inform strategic make-or-buy decisions.
* Collect and analyze relevant site data pertaining to resource utilization, labor productivity metrics, and subcontractor performance assessments.
4. **Cost Estimation Support:**
* Provide support in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for additional works, variations to the original scope, or entirely new project scopes.
* Contribute to the development of robust cost baselines and accurate cost forecasts based on observed execution trends.
5. **Reporting & Coordination:**
* Prepare and submit timely weekly/monthly commercial reports, including comprehensive quantity updates, invoicing status reports, and detailed material usage summaries.
* Maintain current and comprehensive documentation of all site commercial activities, ensuring readily available backup information for potential claims or variations.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of site-based QS experience, preferably in solar or energy infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in quantity surveying and site documentation tools (Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction materials, measurement standards, and contract clauses.
- Familiarity with solar components and installation processes (PV modules, BOS items, etc.).
