**Overview – Role**

Jensen Hughes seeks a highly qualified Site-Based Fire Protection Engineer for a temporary, six-month engagement (with potential for extension) in the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will provide on-site inspection of mechanical and electrical systems for a complex Fire & Life Safety (FLS) project.

This role requires proficiency in site management, encompassing all aspects of the project’s FLS requirements, including the review of contractor documentation, passive/active fire protection systems, and ventilation systems throughout installation, commissioning, inspection, and testing phases. The Site-Based Fire Protection Engineer will ensure compliance with client expectations and project scope, while maintaining effective coordination with the Project Manager and team members. Expertise in FLS document review, systems, calculations, and reports is essential.

**Responsibilities**

* Review contractor-submitted Fire & Life Safety (FLS) packages for compliance with NFPA, SBC, and GDCD requirements.
* Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of contractor documentation, including FLS/fire protection shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements for testing, inspection, commissioning, and handover of passive and active fire protection systems.
* Perform building code analysis and gap analysis based on contractor submissions.
* Assess potential fire safety, occupational health, and safety hazards at construction sites for buildings and facilities under supervision.
* Conduct frequent site inspections of passive and active fire systems, including data collection and reporting.
* Conduct testing, commissioning, and handover site inspections for all passive and active fire protection systems with data collection and reporting.
* Conduct site surveys for occupational health and safety hazards.
* Review and approve contractor emergency response procedures.
* Review and approve contractor fire risk assessments and review emergency evacuation plans.

**Requirements and Qualifications**

* Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
* Minimum of four (4) years of Middle East project experience, including design review, construction supervision, fire protection installation inspections, surveys, audits, testing/commissioning, and approvals.
* Demonstrated experience in FLS calculations and reporting.
* Certification in NFPA 13, 20, 72, and/or 2001 codes (preferred).
* Proven site experience related to fire protection, suppression, fire alarm systems, and ventilation.
* Experience in liaising with local authorities, contractors, and clients to obtain necessary certificates for occupancy.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
