Our client is a subsidiary of one of the largest farming and food production companies globally. The parent company sells milk, milk powders, and an extensive range of bakery products into supermarket chains and independent retailers across 3 continents.

Opportunity:



Reporting to the Assistant Farm Manager, the Senior Unit Manager will oversee one aspect of the business on a large-scale farm, focusing on ensuring efficient operations and adherence to company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include managing forage crops and inputs, irrigation, machinery operation, staff development, and health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the assigned unit
  • Supervise and develop staff within the unit
  • Operate machinery and ensure safe and efficient work practices
  • Oversee crop management and irrigation activities
  • Ensure all maintenance services are carried out at the correct intervals
  • Report any issues related to field operations to Assistant Farm Managers

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety policies and procedures
  • Accountable for the health and safety of all employees under direct supervision
  • Collaborate with training initiatives on health and safety
  • Coordinate with health and safety measures to minimize workplace hazards
  • Implement recommended corrective actions for health and safety concerns

Candidate Requirements:

  • Education: University graduate with agronomy experience
  • More than 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Languages: English; Spanish an advantage but not essential
  • General Computer Skills: Proficient in Excel and Word

Managerial Skills:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize time effectively
  • Strong planning, organization, and scheduling skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Problem analysis with proposal of solutions

Behavioral Skills:

  • Demonstrates good work ethic and leadership skills
  • Effective work planning and attention to detail
  • Confidence and ability to work well under pressure
  • Adaptive to change and friendly and approachable attitude

Remuneration

Our client is considering a ‘fly-in, fly-out’ arrangement, specifically 6 weeks in Argentina followed by 2 weeks in their home countries, this aims to balance work commitments and family time. As an indication salary will be USD 58 000, and additional benefits provided are:

  • Target bonus 1.5 months (based on performance and company financial results).
