Job Description:**Job Description: Shop Drawings & Costing Engineer**

**Purpose:** The Shop Drawings & Costing Engineer is responsible for the generation of technical shop drawings necessary for product design, as well as the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to accurately estimate costs and establish selling prices for new products, in accordance with specific project requirements.

**Responsibilities:**

**1. Shop Drawings Development:**

* Acquire, compile, and thoroughly review all relevant project details, proposals, and technical documentation from the technical office to ensure a comprehensive understanding of product specifications and requirements.
* Prepare detailed shop drawings, specifying the required materials, including precise quantities and qualities.
* Select appropriate materials (e.g., wood, metal, accessories, paint, textiles, fabrics) for each product based on project specifications and performance criteria.
* Generate accurate cutting lists essential for furniture and woodwork production processes.
* Ensure high-quality, functional production solutions to facilitate the effective conversion of technical designs into efficient manufacturing processes and procedures.
* Collaborate closely with relevant technical and non-technical departments, including production, warehouse, design, procurement, sales, finance, and operations, to ensure seamless project execution.

**2. Cost Estimation, Analysis, and Control:**

* Monitor and analyze comprehensive cost data, encompassing raw materials, operations, production, waste, and direct/indirect expenses, to support accurate forecasting of new product selling prices.
* Implement established cost methodologies and utilize appropriate software tools and models to generate and maintain reliable costing data.
* Translate collected data into comprehensive cost estimates for both new and existing products.
* Establish and define cost estimate targets throughout the design, development, and production phases.
* Determine selling prices by applying appropriate profit margins to estimated costs, based on specific project specifications.
* Evaluate product cost-effectiveness by comparing actual costs to estimated costs to maintain adherence to forecasted budgets and identify areas for improvement.
* Identify and develop cost-efficiency strategies and techniques while maintaining product quality standards.
* Recommend cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities to management.
* Identify potential risks and issues that could impact product costs and develop mitigation strategies.
* Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices and advanced cost control methodologies.

**3. Coordination and Communication:**

* Provide cost impact assessments and support management decision-making by furnishing accurate and detailed cost information.
* Maintain communication with the projects/sales department to ensure a complete understanding of project specifications and requirements.
* Collaborate with the production department to ensure the accuracy of cost estimates and resolve any cost-related issues.
* Communicate with the procurement department to obtain up-to-date price lists for raw materials and accessories.
* Consult with the finance department to gain insights into relevant financial details pertaining to products.

**4. Documentation and Reporting:**

* Prepare monthly costing reports and selling price forecasts, reporting any variances exceeding or falling below approved budgets.
* Maintain accurate records and archive all essential costing documentation in an organized manner.

Other Requirements:

  • BS degree in Architecture Engineering, Interior Design or Applied Arts.
  • 4-7 years of experience working as a Shop Drawings & Costing Engineer is a must
  • Experience in Manufacturing of Office Furniture field is a must.
  • Good user for MS office (Excellent Excel User)
  • Auto CAD is a must.
  • SketchUp, Cut List & MaxCut will be a plus.
  • Solid Program knowledge is a plus.
