Job Purpose The Product Owner/Technical Product Manager will define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to support our AI-augmented product development team. This pivotal role bridges business objectives and technical execution, translating customer and mission requirements into clear, actionable specifications for the product development organization. You will operate within a highly empowered environment where the software development lifecycle is augmented by Artificial Intelligence. Traditional roles and repetitive tasks are automated or AI-assisted, enabling the team to deliver secure, production-grade applications with the velocity and quality typically associated with significantly larger teams. AI-Augmented Product Development Model We are a lean, AI-augmented product development team delivering production-ready, enterprise-grade secure applications with the quality and velocity typically requiring three to four times the organizational size. Every role within the traditional Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is either AI-augmented or automated, enabling teams to focus on design, architecture, and high-impact decision-making. Core Principles: Security by Design: Security is integrated into every decision, from architecture to deployment. Automation & Strategic Focus: Repetitive tasks are automated, allowing human effort to be focused on strategy and problem-solving. Measurable Quality: Quality is measurable, enforced, and automated at every stage. Transparency & Explainability: All system behaviors, including AI-assisted outputs, must be traceable, reviewable, and explainable. We do not deploy “black box” functionality. Resilience & Maintainability: Design and implementation decisions prioritize resilience, maintainability, and interoperability in real customer environments. Key Responsibilities Vision & Strategy (30%): Define product vision and roadmap aligned with business goals. Conduct user research and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities, validating findings with stakeholders. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Backlog Management (40%): Maintain and prioritize the product backlog based on value and effort. Develop clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria. Collaborate with the product development team to refine and maintain the backlog. Make real-time trade-off decisions during sprints. Stakeholder Collaboration (20%): Communicate progress to executives and stakeholders effectively. Gather and synthesize feedback from users and business teams. Manage expectations and negotiate scope adjustments as needed. Ensure alignment across the organization. Team Enablement (10%): Address and resolve any impediments faced by engineers by clarifying requirements. Validate features in staging environments before production release. Actively participate in demos and retrospectives. Foster a positive team culture and promote high morale. Key Activities Daily: Review pull requests for UX/scope alignment, address team inquiries, and monitor key metrics. Weekly: Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, stakeholder updates, and user interviews. Monthly: Conduct roadmap reviews, OKR check-ins, and competitive analysis. Quarterly: Engage in strategy planning and deliver presentations to key stakeholders. Education and Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered. Minimum of seven (7) years of product management experience, including at least three (3) years focused on security-critical products (B2B SaaS). Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with cross-functional product development teams. Demonstrated understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies. Proven experience in shipping mobile and web applications. Strong data-driven decision-making skills utilizing analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Sufficient technical acumen to participate effectively in architecture discussions. Key Skills AI-Specific Skills: Understanding of Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities and limitations. Proficiency in writing effective prompts for AI-assisted development. Familiarity with AI ethics and bias considerations. Other Highly Desirable Skills: Experience with AI/ML products or features. Background in engineering or design. Understanding of mobile app ecosystems (iOS, Android). Familiarity with React Native, Flutter, or similar frameworks. Experience with API-first product development. Strong grasp of cryptography basics and authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth2, SAML, Zero Trust). Deep understanding of OWASP Top 10, SANS Top 25, and common vulnerability patterns. Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot for research and analysis. Previous experience in a startup or high-growth company. Success Metrics Product Velocity: Features shipped per sprint. User Satisfaction: Net Promoter Score (NPS), Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) scores, and app store ratings. Business Impact: Conversion rates, revenue growth, and user retention. Team Health: Sprint completion rate, velocity trend, and team satisfaction.
