**Role Summary:**
The Logistics Procurement Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing and supplier management of logistics services, encompassing international and domestic transportation and warehousing. This role requires alignment with organizational objectives to optimize costs and service levels. Key responsibilities include managing category strategies, overseeing tender processes, and ensuring effective contract management to achieve both cost savings and service enhancements. The Manager will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align forecasts and integrate advanced technology for process improvement, as well as mentor a small team of sourcing professionals.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* **Category Strategy and Management:** Develop and maintain comprehensive logistics category strategies covering transport, warehousing, last-mile delivery, customs brokerage, and 3PL/4PL contracts. Conduct scenario planning and total cost of ownership analyses, utilizing index-based pricing and fuel surcharge governance. Ensure adherence to internal policies, Incoterms 2020, trade regulations, and data privacy. Manage complex RFPs and network changes effectively through cross-functional coordination.
* **Partnership and Alignment:** Collaborate with the Supply Chain department to align forecasts and demands, optimizing network distribution and mode mix. Define sourcing initiatives and maintain a project pipeline aligned with business requirements. Optimize Incoterms, load consolidation, and routing guides to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
* **Source to Contract (S2C):** Manage market analyses, RFI/RFP/eAuctions, evaluations, and negotiations. Standardize Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Establish and govern supplier relationships through Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and performance scorecards for strategic partnerships. Innovate performance and sustainability metrics, including CO2 emissions per shipment and packaging optimization.
* **Stakeholder Engagement:** Align specifications, SLAs, and budgets with Business Units, Finance, and Operations, leveraging data insights. Establish cross-functional Steering Committees for major logistics projects to facilitate informed decision-making. Provide market intelligence on trends impacting logistics decisions.
* **Technology and Data Management:** Collaborate with IT to integrate Transportation Management Systems (TMS)/Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and automate Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards for logistics operations. Ensure accurate data management regarding lanes, rate cards, and surcharges. Maintain comprehensive contract repositories.
* **Team Development:** Coach and develop the sourcing team in areas of sourcing, analytics, and contract management, ensuring robust succession and learning plans are in place.
**Required Skills and Competencies:**
* Demonstrated proficiency in category strategy development and cost modeling within logistics.
* Exceptional negotiation skills and experience in contract drafting and supplier relationship management.
* Advanced data analysis and financial acumen, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis and benchmarking.
* Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive strategic operational changes effectively.
**Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business; a Master’s degree is preferred.
* CIPS certification or equivalent is highly desirable; APICS CSCP/CLTD or similar certifications are advantageous.
* 7-10 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on logistics categories, including transportation and warehousing management.
* Hands-on experience with TMS/WMS and e-procurement platforms such as SAP Ariba and Coupa, coupled with strong global sourcing expertise.
