**Job Description: Senior Mechanical Engineer**

AECOM seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the Resident Engineer in the supervision and coordination of mechanical works related to stormwater drainage systems, pumping stations, and microtunneling interfaces. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with approved designs, specifications, project schedules, and quality and safety standards, adhering to the requirements of RTA and Dubai Municipality.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Supervise and monitor all mechanical works associated with stormwater networks, pumping stations, and related facilities.
* Review and approve contractors’ mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements to ensure compliance with design intent and project specifications.
* Develop and implement QA/QC procedures applicable to mechanical installations, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and commissioning protocols.
* Conduct and follow up on inspections of installations, such as pumps, valves, piping, flow meters, mechanical screens, penstocks, actuators, and control systems.
* Ensure all mechanical works are performed in accordance with ASHRAE, NFPA, DEWA, and RTA standards.
* Review and verify the testing and commissioning of all mechanical systems, including performance tests, calibration, and handover documentation.
* Monitor progress of mechanical activities and report any delays, deviations, and corrective actions to the Resident Engineer.
* Coordinate with the Head Office design team for technical clarifications, RFIs, and resolution of site-related mechanical issues.
* Verify and coordinate interfaces between civil, structural, electrical, and control disciplines to ensure smooth system integration.
* Review as-built drawings and ensure the accuracy of documentation prior to handover.
* Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and system commissioning activities.
* Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements during mechanical works, lifting operations, and confined-space activities.
* Assist in evaluating contractors’ progress claims, variation proposals, and change requests.
* Mentor junior engineers and inspectors, promoting best practices in quality assurance and safety compliance.

**Experience Requirements:**

* A minimum of 20 years of post-graduate experience in the construction supervision of stormwater, pumping stations, and mechanical infrastructure projects.

**Qualifications:**

* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred).
* Professional registration or chartership (e.g., CEng, ASME, or equivalent) is an advantage.
* Comprehensive understanding of Dubai Authority requirements and standards (RTA, DM, DEWA, etc.).
