The Senior Mechanic is accountable for the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment within oil and gas rig or production facility operations. This encompasses diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pumps, generators, compressors, drilling apparatus, and rotating machinery. The position mandates a thorough comprehension of mechanical engineering principles, preventive maintenance methodologies, and relevant safety regulations to guarantee seamless operations and minimize operational downtime.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Equipment Maintenance & Repair:** Execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance procedures on all mechanical equipment. Conduct thorough inspections, diagnose malfunctions, and perform repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, mud pumps, draw works, winches, compressors, and rotating equipment. Supervise maintenance and repair activities to ensure strict adherence to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards and applicable industry regulations. Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts, specialized tools, and necessary consumables to facilitate efficient operational workflows.

2. **Troubleshooting & Fault Diagnosis:** Diagnose mechanical failures, hydraulic system impairments, and overall system breakdowns. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for persistent mechanical issues and formulate appropriate remedial solutions. Interpret intricate technical drawings, schematics, and operational manuals to facilitate effective troubleshooting. Utilize diagnostic instruments and vibration analysis equipment to precisely identify equipment malfunctions.

3. **Compliance & Safety:** Enforce strict adherence to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) regulations and industry best practices. Ensure rigorous compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during all maintenance interventions. Actively participate in safety drills, toolbox talks, and comprehensive risk assessments. Maintain meticulously accurate maintenance logs, detailed work orders, and comprehensive compliance documentation.

4. **Supervision & Training:** Provide leadership and mentorship to junior mechanics and technicians, instilling best practices in maintenance procedures. Deliver training to rig personnel on fundamental mechanical troubleshooting techniques and safe equipment handling protocols. Ensure all team members strictly adhere to established industry standards and safety protocols.

5. **Coordination & Reporting:** Coordinate closely with drilling, production, and maintenance teams to effectively schedule and execute planned maintenance activities. Generate daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports for supervisory review. Provide support to the procurement process by identifying required spare parts, lubricants, and specialized tools.
