University of Doha for Science and Technology – Marketing and Communications Directorate – Profile:   

University of Doha for Science and Technology – Marketing and Communications Directorate is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Senior Manager, Communications. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Senior Manager, Communications must possess the skills and expertise necessary to support the Marketing and Communications Directorate of the University and fully implementing UDST’s mission and vision. 

Duties & Responsibilities:      

This position requires an organized strategist with strong communication and people skills who will develop and implement UDST’s strategies for communications to support and advance UDST’s brand and positioning in the market. Furthermore, the individual will manage as well as promote the reputation and public image of UDST. 

The successful candidate will support in developing the Marketing and Communications business plan in alignment with UDST’s strategy and prepare comprehensive plan for marketing, communications and public relations, incorporating the use of traditional and digital channels and media to support and enhance UDST’s brand positioning.

The successful candidate will support the Director, Marketing and Communications in guiding and preparing the senior management and academic staff in their capacity as UDST representatives during media interviews and speaking engagements to ensure continuity and coordination of strategic messages along with interaction with various stakeholders of UDST.

The incumbent will develop strong working relationships with media and serve as the key contact to oversee and manage all media interactions thus obtaining optimized amount of earned media to effectively and strategically communicate UDST accomplishments in the national and international media on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop plans and execute events that deliver strategic value, student experience and brand development. Moreover, candidate will extend support when needed to other stakeholders for content management of UDST’s intranet site, electronic signage and production of newsletter, flyers and internal events.

The incumbent will handle the issues management and message development during emergency, crisis situations along with monitoring existing/emerging issues and manage all communications thereby providing support to senior management to determine best approach to potential issues that could impact UDST and recommend measures to mitigate any reputational damage, communicating UDST positions to media and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will manage copy writing for all publications, marketing and promotional materials, speeches, presentations and news releases to ensure alignment with UDST communications strategies/plans and also prepare/review reports and feedback, to evaluate the effectiveness of existing and proposed strategies for communications and their contribution to the achievement of strategic goals.

The incumbent will provide professional development support by identifying appropriate learning and development opportunities and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on UDST’s Employee Performance Management framework to ensure continual high performance of employees in alignment with UDST’s mission and mandate.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, processes, guidelines governing all aspects of the Communications.
