The Senior Electrician is accountable for the comprehensive installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within oil and gas drilling rigs, production facilities, and processing plants. This encompasses generators, transformers, motors, switchgear, control panels, illumination systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). This role necessitates a high degree of proficiency in both high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, hazardous area classification (ATEX/IECEx), and adherence to established industry safety standards.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Electrical Maintenance and Repair:** Execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance procedures on electrical systems. Install, troubleshoot, and repair power distribution systems, switchgear, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), transformers, generators, and electric motors. Verify the proper operation and calibration of PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Monitor and maintain Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and battery backup systems. Conduct insulation resistance testing, including megger testing, and facilitate circuit troubleshooting.
2. **Troubleshooting and Fault Diagnosis:** Diagnose electrical malfunctions, power disruptions, and short circuits. Conduct voltage, current, and continuity testing using appropriate electrical diagnostic instrumentation. Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control wiring diagrams. Ensure that explosion-proof (Ex-proof) equipment and electrical installations conform to hazardous area standards.
3. **Compliance and Safety:** Enforce adherence to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) regulations and electrical safety protocols. Ensure compliance with IEC, NEC, ATEX, and API standards pertaining to electrical installations within hazardous zones. Implement and adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to mitigate electrical hazards. Participate in safety drills, risk assessments, and permit-to-work (PTW) protocols.
4. **Supervision and Training:** Supervise and mentor junior electricians and technicians in best practice methodologies and safety compliance protocols. Conduct training sessions pertaining to electrical troubleshooting, power distribution, and hazardous area installations. Ensure team members adhere to industry standards and maintenance schedules.
5. **Coordination and Reporting:** Coordinate maintenance activities with mechanical, instrumentation, and operations teams. Maintain meticulous logs, reports, and documentation pertaining to electrical work performed. Provide support in procurement activities by identifying necessary spare parts, electrical components, and tools.
