Job Description:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, availability, and performance of all database servers.
  • Manage and maintain Oracle Cluster databases and Oracle Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Handle database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery (DR) testing, ensuring adherence to Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Optimize MS SQL production databases, including performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
  • Conduct SQL code reviews to enforce best practices and coding standards for database development.
  • Monitor database performance and availability, generate reports, and implement best practices to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in technical analysis, design, and implementation of database solutions for current and future projects.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures for data security, integrity, and access control.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of the database environment, configurations, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure database reliability.

Skills:

  • Strong expertise in Oracle and MS SQL database administration in large-scale environments.
  • Proven hands-on experience managing high-volume MS SQL instances with high availability configurations (e.g., Clustering, Always On, Replication).
  • Deep knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and execution plans.
  • Experience with disaster recovery solutions, including backup strategies, log shipping, mirroring, and failover clustering.
  • Proficient in database security, access control, and compliance with industry best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve database performance and availability issues efficiently.
  • Excellent documentation skills for maintaining database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) and Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certifications are highly preferred.
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE for SQL Server) are a plus.

Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in database administration.
  • Expertise in Oracle, MS SQL Server, and MySQL database management.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and database scripting languages.
  • Experience with database security, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
