Job DescriptionJob Overview:The Senior Commissioning Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Commissioning discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Commissioning discipline. The Senior Commissioning Engineer solves complex problems and uses their discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. They impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Commissioning team and other related teams and ensure that they are working within the appropriate guidelines and policies.ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:Report to the Commissioning Manager and provide support to the Principal Commissioning Engineer in the preparation of home office deliverablesAt the site, the Senior Commissioning Engineer will participate in walk-down inspections, punch listing, and testing including troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical & instrument component issues that can arise on the projectWork collaboration within the Project team and with the Client to maintain positive relationshipsRequired to support the commissioning team with performing any of the following activities as a minimumOperate and maintain Manuals developmentCommissioning and Start-up Spares developmentFirst Fills and Consumables developmentCommissioning, and Start-Up ProceduresDiscipline Equipment system checks and tests Function testing of mechanical, electrical, and instrument systemsParticipate in Commissioning, Start-Up and Performance TestingResolve operational and maintenance issues during Commissioning, Start-Up, and Performance TestsSupervise craft personnel required for site pre-commissioning and commissioning activitiesCoordinate activities with other engineers in the commissioning teamReports to:Project: Project Commissioning ManagerFunctional: Function Commissioning ManagerLiaise with: Commissioning Manager, Discipline Lead Engineers, Project Engineers, Construction/Fabrication teamSupervises: Commissioning Engineers, Completions Specialists, Operation & Maintenance specialists, Designers, and supportpersonnel within the function group QualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering8-15 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultantRequires a good understanding of concepts, principles, and practices in commissioning, completions, and training as well as basic knowledge of other functions, such as construction and operations & maintenanceApplies understanding of the industry to improve effectivenessPreferably possess a degree or diploma or equivalent in engineeringHave a minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical, refinery, or oil & gas processing facilityPrefer 2+ years of previous commissioning and start-up experience in the chemical, refinery, or oil & gas industryAble to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineersMust have good computer software skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio Must have good organizational skills and be adaptable to the needs of various discipline groupsMust have the ability to assess and communicate project requirements and expectations in a clearly defined, positive, and productive mannerWilling and able to travel to construction sites on assignments to international sitesProficiency in English, Multi-Language skills a plusAbout UsOur ingenuity fuels daily life.
