The Chief Accountant is responsible for directing the organization’s accounting activities, maintaining the integrity of financial records, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, and providing strategic guidance within the finance department. This encompasses: leading the daily operation of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and the closing of monthly and annual accounts; preparing, analyzing, and presenting financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with IFRS/GAAP standards; managing budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and trend analysis to inform strategic decision-making; coordinating external audits and tax filings, and ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulatory mandates; maintaining strong internal controls and accounting policies to protect company assets; overseeing cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and working capital management; providing mentorship and management to accounting personnel, including training, performance evaluations, and professional development; leading initiatives to enhance accounting systems, financial processes, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation (e.g., SAP, Oracle); and serving as a financial advisor to management, offering analytical support and insights to facilitate informed decisions.
