**Job Description:**
The Senior Backend Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the development and maintenance of our backend systems, impacting millions of users. This role involves architectural decision-making, migrating monolithic applications to microservices, designing and securing backend architecture, and working with Docker containers, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform. The candidate will also coach and mentor team members, participate in design-driven development, adhere to SOLID principles, and contribute to test coverage, refactoring, and documentation efforts. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in code review, debugging, and problem-solving.
**Responsibilities will include:**
* Participating in architectural decisions for a platform used by a vast user base.
* Contributing to the migration of monolithic applications to microservices.
* Designing and improving backend architecture to support scalability and security.
* Working with Docker containers, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform.
* Mentoring and coaching team members.
* Adhering to Design Driven Development, SOLID Principles, and Event-driven Architecture.
* Understanding the software development lifecycle and collaborating with cross-functional agile teams.
* Contributing to test coverage, refactoring, and documentation.
* Performing code reviews, debugging, and investigations.
**Qualifications:**
* A minimum of five (5) years of experience in backend development utilizing GoLang, Ruby on Rails (RoR), Java, or Python.
* Extensive database expertise with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases, including a solid understanding of normal forms, ACID principles, isolation levels, indexing, query optimization, and memory caching (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
* Proficiency in monitoring, alerting, and logging tools such as Grafana.
* A comprehensive understanding of software architecture, including Domain-Driven Design (DDD), microservices, Kubernetes, and containerization.
* Experience with monolithic application migration.
* A strong emphasis on testing, including experience writing unit and integration tests.
* Demonstrated adaptability and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
