**Summary**
This position is responsible for the overall management and operation of the rooms division in a large, luxury hotel or resort, ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest service, maximizing revenue, and maintaining operational efficiency. The role requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive work environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* **Team Leadership and Development:**
* Directly supervise and manage the activities of the front office and housekeeping teams, ensuring adequate staffing levels.
* Develop and mentor team members through coaching, feedback, and the establishment of performance and development goals.
* Recognize and reward exceptional performance.
* Implement training programs to ensure staff proficiency in hotel revenue goals and operational standards.
* Address human resources-related matters as needed.
* Cultivate a collaborative and positive work environment across departments.
* **Guest Relations:**
* Ensure prompt, professional, and personalized service to all guests.
* Actively engage with guests, solicit feedback, and resolve complaints effectively.
* Analyze guest satisfaction data and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
* Coordinate special arrangements and communicate pertinent information to relevant departments for VIP guests, groups, and other key clientele.
* Conduct routine inspections of the front office and public areas, addressing any deficiencies promptly.
* **Financial Management:**
* Oversee the night audit function and the preparation of daily financial reports.
* Prepare and submit statistical, performance, and forecast analyses and reports.
* Maintain procedures for the security of monies, credit and financial transactions, guest security, and inventory control.
* Utilize company systems and processes to maximize revenue generation.
* Develop and implement strategies to increase occupancy rates and average daily rate (ADR) through walk-ins and upselling.
* Achieve personal and team sales goals and optimize profitability.
* Contribute to the preparation of the departmental budget and financial plans, including the hotel marketing plan.
* **Business Development and Community Relations:**
* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, vendors, and external contacts to drive revenue growth.
* Work closely with business leaders, local officials, and community groups to enhance the hotel’s visibility and reputation.
* Promote the hotel’s sustainability initiatives and leverage them for business opportunities.
* Serve as a central point of contact during emergencies and crises, maintaining relationships with local emergency personnel.
* Develop community outreach programs and foster team member involvement.
* Collaborate with advertising agencies, consulting firms, and vendors to maximize advertising effectiveness and ensure brand representation.
* Enhance the hotel’s and brand’s reputation within the local community, occasionally serving as a media representative.
* Identify opportunities for improvement in marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance, collaborating with other departments.
* **Operational Responsibilities:**
* Schedule conventions and business group activities, coordinating with other departments to fulfill agreed-upon services.
* Regularly audit financial transactions to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and data privacy requirements.
* Perform other duties as assigned, potentially serving as manager on duty.
**Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent.
* Minimum of four years of experience in guest service/hotel operations, with at least two years in a management capacity.
* Proficiency in the local language(s).
* Additional language skills preferred.
