Job Description: **Rigger I**

The Rigger I is accountable for the safe and efficient lifting, moving, and positioning of heavy equipment and materials utilizing established hoisting and rigging methodologies. This position necessitates proficiency in load calculations, lift planning, and strict compliance with relevant safety protocols within oil and gas operational settings. The Rigger I collaborates closely with crane operators, supervisory personnel, and ground crews to guarantee the secure and effective execution of rigging operations.

**Essential Responsibilities:**

1. **Rigging and Lifting Operations:**
* Conduct thorough preparation and inspection of all rigging gear, including slings, chains, hooks, and shackles, prior to utilization.
* Assist in the setup of cranes, hoists, and associated lifting equipment in preparation for operational activities.
* Secure loads in a proper manner, ensuring equilibrium and stability throughout the lifting process.
* Direct crane operators via the utilization of standardized hand signals and radio communication protocols.

2. **Safety and Compliance:**
* Adhere to all applicable OSHA, API, and company safety regulations governing lifting and rigging activities.
* Perform inspections of all lifting tools and equipment, identifying and reporting any defects or signs of wear.
* Maintain a safe working environment through the diligent application of hazard assessments and permit-to-work systems.
* Ensure the mandatory and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

3. **Load Calculations and Lift Planning:**
* Possess a comprehensive understanding of load weight distribution and center of gravity principles to facilitate safe lifting practices.
* Assist in the preparation and review of lift plans under the direction of a rigging supervisor.
* Perform risk assessments for heavy lifts and operations conducted within confined spaces.

4. **Maintenance and Reporting:**
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date rigging logs and inspection records.
* Assist in the routine maintenance and upkeep of rigging equipment.
* Report all incidents, near misses, or equipment failures to supervisory personnel without delay.
