**Rig Manager – Position Description**

The Rig Manager is accountable for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective overall management of drilling rig operations. Responsibilities encompass ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations, managing personnel performance, directing drilling activities, and coordinating with company representatives and third-party service providers. This role demands strong leadership to maintain operational excellence while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Operations & Performance Management:** Direct all drilling, workover, and maintenance operations conducted on the rig. Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints, project timelines, and established technical specifications. Monitor daily drilling reports, operational logs, and equipment performance metrics. Optimize drilling efficiency while ensuring full compliance with safety regulations and operational procedures.

2. **Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:** Enforce adherence to company HSE policies and industry best practices, including, but not limited to, API, OSHA, IADC, NEBOSH, and ISO 45001 standards. Conduct and actively participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and incident investigations. Ensure compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and enforce safety protocols to prevent incidents. Maintain strict compliance with environmental protection measures and established emergency response plans.

3. **Crew Management & Leadership:** Supervise and manage rig personnel, contractors, and third-party service providers. Assign duties and rigorously monitor crew performance to maximize productivity and ensure adherence to safety standards. Facilitate training and mentorship programs for rig crews to enhance skills and knowledge. Ensure adequate staffing levels and appropriate shift coverage.

4. **Equipment & Maintenance Oversight:** Ensure that all rig equipment, machinery, and drilling tools are properly maintained and regularly inspected. Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize operational downtime. Coordinate with the maintenance team to resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.

5. **Communication & Coordination:** Serve as the primary point of contact between the rig and the corporate office. Liaise effectively with company representatives, drilling engineers, and third-party vendors. Provide daily operational updates, incident reports, and performance analyses to senior management.
