Job Description:**Canonical is seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager to join its Finance team.**

Canonical, a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, is actively seeking a highly qualified Revenue Accounting Manager to contribute to the company’s continued growth and profitability. Canonical’s clientele encompasses leading public cloud providers, silicon manufacturers, and industry leaders across diverse sectors.

As a pioneer in global distributed collaboration, Canonical fosters a dynamic work environment with over 1200 colleagues across more than 75 countries, with a preference for remote-based roles. The company emphasizes strategic alignment and execution through in-person team meetings held two to four times annually in various international locations.

The Revenue Accounting Manager will be instrumental in driving revenue recognition processes, decisions, systems, and reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for systems accounting and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of reporting speed and accuracy.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Collaborate with Product Management, Sales Operations, Sales, Legal, and FP&A teams to design standard contracts.
* Drive process and configuration improvements in NetSuite and related systems for end-to-end automation of the revenue lifecycle.
* Incorporate industry best practices and emerging technology to raise the bar for reporting speed and accuracy.
* Review and evaluate the revenue recognition impact of non-standard contracts and new products.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of revenue accounting and systems accounting professionals.
* Assist in month-end revenue close, including reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and other reporting.
* Develop and maintain effective internal controls over revenue transactions and reporting.
* Research and write accounting memos on significant revenue recognition and other policy matters.
* Act as the primary liaison with external auditors in matters related to order-to-cash.

**Valued Skills and Experience:**

* Exceptional academic record.
* Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, or a compelling alternative educational background.
* CPA, CA, or equivalent professional certification with demonstrated technical accounting proficiency and IFRS expertise.
* Comprehensive understanding of IFRS 15 and related regulations pertaining to SaaS and services.
* Demonstrated leadership and management experience.
* Proven track record of exceeding expectations.
* Experience in software licensing, subscription, and services revenue accounting and operations.
* Experience driving revenue recognition and scaling accounting processes in a high-growth environment.
* Proficiency with ERP, Rev Rec, CRM, CPQ, and other relevant software categories (NetSuite and Salesforce preferred).
* Experience in a multi-country, multi-currency operations and tax environment.
* Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
* Thoughtfulness and self-motivation.
* Results-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
* Ability to travel twice annually for company events, up to two weeks in duration.

**Additional Valued Skills:**

* Public company reporting and revenue accounting experience.
* Software implementation, integration, and user acceptance experience.
* Software engineering qualification or experience.
* A passion for technology.
* MBA or other relevant business degree.
