Job Description

Role Objective:  

To develop, approve and monitor the project schedules and ensure that all project milestones are achieved on time. 

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities: 

STRATEGIC  

  • Studies contract documents to become fully knowledgeable of project requirements,  specifications and constraints 
  • Prepares project construction plans to ensure the achievement of the Company’s overall objectives, in line with the company strategy.
  • Ensures that all the requirements and constraints for: engineering, design,  construction, procurement and delivery of material, availability of manpower and  equipment are included in the schedule.  
  • Prepares weekly/monthly time management reports for the business unit  management.  
  • Contributes and highlights to the management any foreseeable delays, risks or areas  of concern and provide possible recovery strategies.  
  • Monitors the productivity of new/ongoing projects based on actual progress and  provides feedback to estimation, cost control and operation functions.  

OPERATIONAL  

  • Supports and advises all sites in:  
  1. Setting, monitoring and updating schedule  
  2. Monitor Cash flow report  
  3. Manpower and Equipment report  
  4. Any analysis of time impact as necessary  
  • Responsible for the allocation of planning engineers to the projects and managing  them in coordination with the construction team.  
  • Supervises and checks the tender schedules with resulting resource histograms.  
  • Studies, reviews and internally approves the below aspects in the baseline schedule:
  1. Work Breakdown Structure.  
  2. Productivity rates and the crew sizes used in planned durations.  ∙ Subcontractor scopes and constraints.  
  3. Critical Paths and Floats.  
  4. Contract’s requirements and milestones.  
  5. Cash in and cash out curves.  
  6. Any other critical schedule information/constraints.  
  • Analyses the accelerated plans and performs crash analysis.  
  • Checks for accuracy and consistency in progress updates, critical path and near  critical activity analysis, schedule change management, forecasts, recovery / revised  plans, client and internal progress reporting, and providing timely output and  accurate information to the construction team.  
  • Participates (if needed) in construction progress meetings across the projects to  check the updated schedules and suggest corrective actions if any.  
  • Analyses the variation orders and evaluates their time impact.  
  • Supports the planning team in all issues related to planning and scheduling activities.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT  

  • Oversees the responsibilities and duties of all staff in the Planning department.    
  • Responsible for the training and development of personnel in the Planning  department.  
  • Ensures development, review and improvement of his/her department’s process and  procedure.  
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management.
