**Summary:**

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and related areas, ensuring compliance with all company, safety, and security policies and procedures. Duties include operating and maintaining cleaning equipment, washing and disinfecting kitchenware and work areas, receiving and storing deliveries, and managing waste disposal. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.

**Responsibilities:**

* Operate and maintain dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors.
* Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, storerooms, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
* Receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock according to established procedures.
* Ensure clean wares are stored in designated areas.
* Utilize appropriate detergents, rinsing agents, and sanitizing chemicals in a three-compartment sink for dish cleaning.
* Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items; return soiled items for reprocessing.
* Rack and spray racked items with hot water to remove food residue.
* Sort, soak, and wash silverware.
* Break down dirty bus tubs.
* Empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster areas.
* Clean and mop assigned areas.
* Dispose of glass and cardboard in designated recycling containers.
* Adhere to all company and safety and security policies and procedures, including reporting maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
* Complete required safety training and certifications.
* Protect company assets.
* Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues.
* Develop and maintain positive working relationships; support team goals.
* Ensure adherence to quality standards.
* Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
* Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

**Qualifications:**

* **Education:** No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
* **Experience:** No related work experience required.
* **Supervisory Experience:** Not applicable.
* **License/Certification:** None required.
