Job Description:**Position: Painting and Coating Inspectors**

**Office/Department:** Abu Dhabi

**Reporting to:** Team Leader

**Key Working Relationships:**

* Internal: Manager, Project Manager, Team Leader, Technical Manager/Deputy Technical Manager
* External: Customers/Clients, Project Management Consultants, other Bureau Veritas organizations

The incumbent is expected to establish direct communication with clients and, when necessary, with other Bureau Veritas entities.

**Minimum Required Qualifications:**

* **Specialty:** NACE/CSWIP/British Gas Painting Inspector Grade II or an approved equivalent certification.
* **Education:** Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or HNC

**Training:**

* NACE/CSWIP/British Gas Painting Inspector Grade II or an approved equivalent certification.
* Site Safety Induction
* Sea Survival Course (for Offshore Sites)
* Project-Specific Technical Induction

**Technical Knowledge:**

* Comprehensive understanding of international codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM, and BS.
* Proficiency in Painting/Coating Inspection according to relevant codes.
* Expertise in the application of codes, standards, project specifications, and procedures.

**Experience:**

* Inspector/Technician: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar field.
* Engineer Surveyor: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar field.
* Senior Engineer Surveyor: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar field.

**Primary Functions/Responsibilities/Authorities/Accountabilities:**

* Review, comment on, and approve contractor’s Painting, Coating, and Wrapping procedures.
* Conduct inspections of surface profiles and chloride contamination tests as per applicable standards.
* Monitor weather and equipment conditions during painting and coating operations.
* Ensure that paint materials used are from approved manufacturers and within valid pot life.
* Verify that coating application is performed according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet and approved painting specifications.
* Confirm proper time intervals between intermediate coats for optimal chemical and mechanical bonding.
* Witness and verify Dry Film Thickness and Holiday detection/Pin hole detection, ensuring calibrated testing equipment is used.
* Monitor surface preparation, bonding agent application, elastomer, wrapping, and curing operations (for Neoprene coating) on riser pipes/clamps.
* Witness post-curing tests such as hardness, spark test, sound test, adhesion test, visual and dimensional checks on riser pipes/clamps.
* Monitor surface preparation, CTE coating application, and post-curing tests on pipelines.
* Monitor surface preparation, heat shrink sleeve application, and holiday tests on field joints.
* Monitor surface preparation, wrapping (Servi wrap M 30 B), holiday detection, and doping on offshore pipelines.

**Technical Expertise:**

* Demonstrated knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM, and BS.
* Experience in Painting/Coating Inspection according to relevant codes.
* Competence in applying codes, standards, project specifications, and procedures.
* Conduct activities stated in Primary Functions within their competency.
* Fully conversant with relevant inspection techniques and can select the most appropriate.
* Able to verify and approve Non-conformities/corrective actions
* Able to identify required Bureau Veritas interventions, based on a pre-defined Quality Plan and according to specified standards.
* Able to review/appraise inspection procedures.

**Business Requirements:**

* Report day-to-day inspection findings and any non-compliance/discrepancies to specifications to the Team Leader.

* Ensure inspections are carried out according to approved drawings/Inspection Test Plans.

* Ensure inspections are performed per Purchase Order/approved drawings/Inspection Test Plans and other applicable technical specifications.
* Maintain regular, job-related contact with clients and liaise with clients and/or Project Management Consultants effectively.
* Understand client needs and work to achieve successful project outcomes.
* Develop trust and open communication with clients.

**HSE Requirements:**

* Comply with all applicable legal requirements, BV Abu Dhabi HSE Policies and procedures, client’s HSE procedures, and codes of practice at all times.
* Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard-free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/supervisor
* Report immediately any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize the pertinent risk.
* Report immediately any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation
* Use appropriate PPE at the work area and be aware of: the risks appropriate PPE will control or minimize. Report immediately in case the PPE is worn off or lost.
* Communicate any unsafe work practice or condition and opportunities for improvement of HSE practices to their immediate manager.
* Take care of one’s own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by one’s actions (or inaction).
* Cooperate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for one’s health, safety, or welfare.

* Stay updated on all Painting & Coating-related developments.

* Time taken to deliver reports to the Team Leader.
* Quality of reports.
* Completion of inspections within the allocated timeframe.
* Share information, Best practice, Knowledge Management
