Box 81148, Dubai, United Arab Emirates Schedule: Full Time Remote Work: No Position Type: Non-Management Position Summary: The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for responding to and resolving guest repair requests, ensuring guest satisfaction through effective communication and minimal supervision. This role involves performing preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, maintaining inventory, and requisitioning supplies as needed. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in at least one of the following areas, above-average skills in two additional areas, and basic skills in the remaining areas: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Key Responsibilities: Respond to and resolve guest repair requests promptly and efficiently. Communicate effectively with guests to address and resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machinery to identify potential issues. Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and building systems. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as necessary. Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using established communication protocols. Demonstrate proficiency in the safe use of hand and power tools. Perform basic repairs and replacements of PVC and copper pipes (including soldering). Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on various types of equipment, including pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, and electrical equipment. Program televisions and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties. Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, and light bulb and A/C filter replacements. Ensure thorough cleanup of painting or repair areas. Adhere to the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work. Utilize engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems. Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. Train and mentor other engineers (e.g., Engineer I). Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds. Adhere to all company and safety and security policies and procedures. Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries. Complete safety training and certifications. Properly store flammable materials. Maintain a clean and professional appearance. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards. Anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team goals, and respond appropriately to concerns. Communicate using clear and professional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier items with assistance. Navigate stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Enter and locate work-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested. Qualifications: Preferred: Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background. Related Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation, and painting. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience. Required: Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification. Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements. Valid Driver’s License.
