Job Description
GOPA is looking for a competent Event Manager (hereafter the Consultant) to oversee and organise a high profile Conference on Inclusive education in Amman. The Consultant will ensure the event is successful and cost-effective, paying attention to budget and time constraints. In this framework the Event Manager will be working in close coordination with different stakeholders (mainly GOPA and the event management company).
Under supervision of the project Team Leader, the consultant is therefore expected to accomplish the following tasks:
- Plan event from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives
- Coordinate the various tasks needed to organise the IE conference
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the Event management company that will be contracted for this Conference in order to deliver a 2 days Conference in Amman on 8 and 9 March 2023
- To propose ideas to enhance the event’s success (including ideas for some side activities for the participants in between the sessions of the main programme)
- Oversee budget, project spending and coordinate timely payments to suppliers
- Supervise all staff / service providers (event coordinators, vendors, caterers etc.)
- Ensure the whole event, plus its materials are inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities.
- Ensure the conference is informed by principles of inclusion, participation and diversity
Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience as event manager, including experience of organizing national and/or international conferences
- Project management skills
- Knowledge of marketing techniques for event management
- Computer proficient in MS Office
- Outstanding organisational, communication and negotiation skills
- Skilled in problem-solving
- A team player with leadership skills
- BSc/BA in PR, marketing, hospitality management or related field is preferred.
- Experience in working with International Development Organization is an advantage
· Fluency in Arabic and advanced English language skills
