About the Role As the Engineering Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the ownership, development, and continuous improvement of core engineering processes that support our 130+ person engineering organization. This includes managing our Camunda 8 product release train, incident workflow management, on-call process governance, internal tooling integrations, and engineering metrics collection. Your primary objective will be to optimize the engineering organization’s time and significantly enhance the day-to-day working experience of our teams by fostering operational excellence. This is a hands-on, high-impact engineering role where you will treat these processes as products, systematically stabilizing, automating, and evolving them end-to-end. The goal is to empower engineers to focus on innovation and development by minimizing operational overhead, reducing friction, strengthening reliability, and transforming manual efforts into well-designed, seamless systems. [Optional: Include a link to the 30-minute talk from Camunda engineers about the Camunda Exporter, if available and relevant] Key Responsibilities: Own and modernize critical engineering processes, including cross-team release automation, incident workflows, and internal tooling integrations. Identify and address friction points in engineering operations workflows by automating and orchestrating processes to ensure scalability. Holistically connect systems and data across platforms such as GitHub, Asana, Slack, and Camunda 8 via API. Collaborate with software engineers, engineering leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders (Product Operations, Support) to understand workflow challenges and improve the overall organizational experience. You enjoy designing and automating internal systems and processes to ensure reliability, observability, and scalability. Qualifications: Demonstrated ability and willingness to utilize our product. Strong foundation in backend/full-stack software engineering, with experience building systems integrations and automations. Proven experience automating engineering or developer productivity processes (e.g., release process, incident process, metric collection/organizational observability) in medium to large-scale organizations. Pragmatic approach to iterative implementation: MVP → iteration → scale. Essential Skills: Hands-on track record of owning and developing engineering processes end-to-end in growing software organizations. Strong backend software engineering foundation and proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Python, Java, TypeScript. Proficient in automation scripting (e.g., Shell/Python or similar). Confident working with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions or similar). Desired Skills: Experience building systems using workflow orchestration platforms (e.g., Camunda/BPMN or similar). Experience building internal tooling for engineering organizations. Driving operational improvements through the analysis and application of engineering metrics. Compensation & Benefits Camunda offers a competitive, fair, and transparent compensation structure. Salary ranges are location-based, reflecting local market conditions in Standard and Major technology hubs. The Annual Total Target Cash (base salary + 100% variable target, where applicable) shown below spans from the minimum in a Standard market to the maximum in a Major market. Final offers will be based on skills, experience, and location, with initial offers typically falling within the first half of the range to allow for future growth: United States: $143,800.00 to $231,900.00 Germany: €92,900.00 to €153,700.00 United Kingdom: £90,300.00 to £148,500.00 Singapore: S$178,600.00 to S$267,900.00 For candidates based outside these locations, compensation will be determined through Remote.com, our global employer partner.
