Job Description:**Option 1: (Formal, Focus on Requirements)**

The Embedded Systems & Electrical Engineer role encompasses the design, integration, and validation of hardware and firmware solutions within Sustainable Innovations’ advanced product lines. This position necessitates expertise in both electrical engineering principles and embedded software development practices, facilitating the creation of intelligent, networked devices for industrial, energy, and environmental applications. The incumbent will contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, encompassing circuit design, printed circuit board (PCB) bring-up, firmware programming, prototyping, and system-level integration. Candidates must demonstrate a strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals and possess practical skills in embedded coding, enabling seamless transitions between schematic design, soldering tasks, and firmware debugging procedures.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Electrical & Hardware Design:** Design and review mixed-signal circuits, sensor interfaces, power supplies, and communication modules. Develop and test custom PCBs utilizing KiCad, Altium, or comparable Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. Execute soldering, rework, and PCB assembly for prototypes and small-batch production runs. Conduct electrical validation and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power analyzers, addressing issues related to power integrity, grounding, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and signal conditioning.

2. **Embedded Firmware Development:** Develop firmware for STM32, ESP32, and similar Microcontroller Units (MCUs) using C/C++. Implement drivers for sensors, Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), and communication peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, RS-485). Optimize firmware for performance, efficiency, and reliability. Provide support for field testing and hardware-software integration.

3. **System Integration & Testing:** Perform system integration by hardware and firmware and verify functionality. Interface devices with cloud or local networks via MQTT, Modbus, BLE, or Wi-Fi. Conduct structured testing, calibration, and comprehensive documentation of results.

4. **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and data teams to ensure cohesive product integration. Participate in design reviews and contribute to discussions regarding manufacturability and maintainability.

**Qualifications:**

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required, in addition to a minimum of two years of experience in embedded systems or electronic product development. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in C/C++, and experience with Python or Rust is considered advantageous. Hands-on experience with STM32, ESP32, or comparable microcontrollers, proficiency in soldering, PCB assembly, and the use of standard laboratory equipment are essential. Familiarity with PCB design workflows and schematic interpretation, along with a working knowledge of debugging tools (SWD/JTAG) and communication analyzers are also required. A thorough understanding of power systems, signal conditioning, and communication protocols is expected.

**Preferred Skills:**

Experience with Internet of Things (IoT) or industrial automation devices, familiarity with Git, version control systems, and collaborative development workflows are preferred. Knowledge of cloud or edge integration technologies (e.g., MQTT, REST APIs) is also desirable.
