Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Marine Chartering Manager to oversee vessel chartering operations, contract negotiations, financial performance analysis, and policy development. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the global maritime market, a strong network of industry contacts, and exceptional negotiation skills. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can optimize chartering processes while ensuring compliance with international maritime standards.
Market Analysis & Reporting:
Monitor and analyze maritime market developments, including vessel charter rates, fuel costs, and shipping trends.
Collect market data and prepare periodic reports for senior management with actionable recommendations.
Extract relevant information from maritime publications to support chartering decisions.
Prepare periodic reports on market trends, pricing, and vessel demand using available data.
Chartering & Negotiation Management:
Source optimal vessel charters aligned with company needs by liaising with brokers and shipowners.
Evaluate charter offers based on daily rates, fuel efficiency, vessel speed, and operational capacity.
Own strong big networks of Vessel owners, charterers and brokers
Owns a strong big network of clients that he is able to sell to them his chartering services
Negotiate terms with shipowners to secure advantageous conditions, considering cargo contract requirements.
Supervise contract preparation, ensuring compliance with international standards and company policies.
Review contracts to confirm operational and legal compliance before finalization.
Financial Management & Performance Analysis:
Develop preliminary financial estimates for charter periods and analyze actual costs versus feasibility studies.
Monitor financial performance of lease contracts, address cost deviations, and optimize operational efficiency.
Track actual performance against operational and financial targets and propose corrective/preventive measures.
Recommend strategies to enhance efficiency and mitigate operational/financial risks.
Policy Development & Operational Procedures:
Formulate and update marine leasing policies to enhance operational flexibility and efficiency.
Update procedures in line with market developments and company capabilities.
Ensure adherence to international maritime laws and regulations.
Identify team training needs and oversee skill development for effective performance.
Mentor teams on best practices in chartering, negotiation, and contract management.
Transfer knowledge and skills to build a qualified team in marine chartering.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 10–15 years of relevant experience.
- High precision in work execution.
- Effective communication with team members and management.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the global maritime market, price analysis methods, and marine contracting procedures.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage relationships with external partners.
- Excellent analytical skills to evaluate financial/operational offers and prepare reliable reports.
- Mastery of specialized software for marine lease operations and financial analysis.
- Advanced managerial and leadership skills, with the ability to develop policies and oversee teams.
