**Position Summary:**

The primary responsibility of this role is to uphold exceptional standards of hospitality and product presentation at the Fresh Counter throughout the business day, ensuring a positive experience for both customers and colleagues. This position is also responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Consistently maintains exemplary hospitality and Fresh Counter standards, fostering a welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.
* Utilizes the Ready to Trade Checklist and product specification checklist to guarantee adherence to opening standards.
* Ensures product displays conform to visual merchandising guidelines and are consistently maintained.
* Implements “Clean As You Go” practices for equipment, counters, and seating areas.
* Documents equipment malfunctions according to established procedures.
* Prepares products with attention to presentation, quality, and efficiency, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Maintains strict adherence to personal and food hygiene standards.
* Remains cognizant of sales targets and proactively contributes to achieving them.
* Leverages product knowledge to assist customers with purchases, including providing information on product location, newness, nutritional content, sizing, competitive advantages, and pricing.
* Identifies opportunities to promote deals, offers, upsell, and suggest complementary products.
* Enhances Units Per Transaction by ensuring optimal product placement and replenishment.
* Facilitates customer shopping through various channels, such as cake orders, takeaway service, menu orders, and call-and-collect (during Ramadan).
* Conducts targeted product tastings to educate customers, raise product awareness, and stimulate sales.
* Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the unique selling propositions of M&S products compared to competitors.
* Employs effective selling techniques and comprehensive product knowledge to drive individual sales performance.
* Replenishes products continuously throughout the business day.
* Reviews stock reports to identify new and replenished lines and ensures appropriate display.
* Upholds the integrity of the store stock system by accurately recording waste and tasting quality through manual input of all checklists and timely submission to the administration team.
* Drives stock accuracy through regular stock counts, stock takes, and log system maintenance.
* Executes simple stock counts, utilizing stock file reports, and completes full bi-weekly stock counts.
* Ensures a safe and legally compliant working environment for customers and colleagues.
* Completes the Date Expired Food (DEF) process, monitors hot food temperatures, and signs relevant DEF documentation.
* Maintains the cold chain and frozen temperature requirements.
* Ensures all legal ticketing and decor within the section adheres to policy.
* Fosters a safe working environment for both customers and colleagues.
* Conducts price checks and addresses red alerts promptly.
* Maintains strict adherence to personal and food hygiene standards.
* Operates equipment in accordance with health and safety guidelines and training.
* Takes responsibility for the upkeep of store equipment.
* Maintains awareness of potential hazards and takes appropriate preventative measures.
