The Opportunity We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to contribute to the development of dqlite, our distributed SQLite database, which utilizes our custom Raft library for establishing consensus and replication. Dqlite is available as a pure C library and through a Go package, both of which we actively maintain. We plan to extend its reach by providing bindings for Python and other languages. In this role, you will design and implement enhancements to the libraft, dqlite, and go-dqlite components, which are integral to projects such as MicroK8s and LXD. Your responsibilities will encompass software development, issue resolution, and addressing user inquiries. Location: EMEA (Remote) Key Responsibilities: Design and implement new features across the dqlite ecosystem. Debug and resolve issues reported by users. Enhance Jepsen tests, traditional High Availability (HA) database automated testing, and stress tests. Actively participate in our engineering process through code and architectural reviews. Engage with the open-source community and commercial partners. Required Skills and Experience: Experience with distributed systems, preferably with Raft consensus. Proficiency in C programming. Solid understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrency patterns. Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and techniques quickly. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, a STEM field, or a related discipline.
