Job Description: **Warehouse Accountant Job Description**

The Warehouse Accountant will be responsible for the management and oversight of all financial transactions pertaining to warehouse operations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and adherence to established company policies and relevant accounting standards. This position necessitates a strong foundation in inventory accounting principles, demonstrated analytical capabilities, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting purposes. The incumbent will collaborate closely with warehouse management, procurement personnel, and finance teams to maintain accurate inventory valuation, facilitate reconciliation processes, and implement effective cost control measures across all storage locations.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* **Inventory Accounting and Control:** Maintain comprehensive records of all warehouse transactions, including receipts, issues, transfers, and adjustments, and ensure accurate reconciliation. Validate inventory valuations in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company procedures. Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records. Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory, providing recommendations for appropriate adjustments or provisions.

* **Financial Reporting and Analysis:** Prepare comprehensive monthly and quarterly warehouse accounting reports for submission to the finance department. Conduct detailed analyses of inventory variances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Maintain meticulous cost records for materials and goods to support financial reporting requirements and informed decision-making processes.

* **Compliance and Audit:** Ensure strict adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements. Provide comprehensive support for internal and external audits by supplying accurate records, schedules, and detailed explanations as required. Implement and maintain a robust documentation and filing system for all warehouse-related transactions.

* **Cross-Functional Coordination:** Collaborate effectively with warehouse, supply chain, and procurement teams to ensure the accurate and timely flow of inventory data. Verify supplier invoices against received materials and coordinate with the finance department to facilitate timely payments. Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing warehouse and accounting processes.

* **Systems and Data Management:** Maintain accurate data entry within ERP systems concerning inventory and warehouse accounting functions. Utilize Microsoft Excel to develop detailed tracking sheets, reconciliation tools, and performance dashboards. Assist in the implementation of system upgrades or automation projects related to inventory management.

**Qualifications:**

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
* A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar accounting role is required.
* Demonstrated knowledge of accounting standards, costing methodologies, and inventory control procedures is essential.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis techniques, is required.
* Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms, is highly desirable.
* Exceptional attention to detail, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, is essential.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are required.
* Fluency in English is required.
