أخصائي تمريض- العناية المركزة/ Staff Nurse-ICU

Duties and responsibilities:

Administrative

·        Provides a leadership & resource role in the provision of patient care 

·        Acts as a unit management resource for example charge nurse, or team leader as assigned

·        Addresses issues using a problem-solving framework. Initiates the nursing or medical / administrative chain of command if unable to resolve issues 

·        Liaisons with other health care team members & departments to provide continuity of patient care & units activities. 

·        Must have strong analytical, interpersonal and decision-making skills.

 Clinical

·        Provides direct patient care for Critically Ill patients utilizing the nursing process within established hospital & unit specific policies and procedures.

·        Demonstrates knowledge & clinical screening/assessment skills appropriateto clinical area in Adult Intensive Care 

·        Performs Specialized Skills in Critically Care such as:

.3.2.3.1          Takes direct & appropriate action in urgent & emergency situations

3.2.3.2          Evaluate and monitor the patient’s progress through vital signs monitoring using Invasive and Non-Invasive Medical Equipments and interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests and identify and assess patient’s condition.

3.2.3.3          Identify sudden changes in patient’s medical condition and report to the Charge Nurse/Team Leader.

3.2.3.4          Deliver regular updates to physicians, patients & families

 3.2.3.5          Care of Patients on Ventilator

3.2.3.6.          Assisting Central Line Insertion

3.2.3.7.          Perform or assist all procedures under the Standard of Practice for Adult ICU

3.2.3.8.         Administers prescribed medications and treatments, utilizing safe medication administration principles in adherence to organizational policies and procedures.

·        Closely monitor patients receiving high risk medication and report any adverse effect or adverse reaction.

·        Ensuring the proper management/careof all invasive and non-invasive Equipments/Devices with Competencies such as:

 

Mechanical Ventilator/Transport Ventilators

 

 

·        Defibrillator

·        ABG Machine

·        Cardiac Monitor

·        CRRT Machine

·        Infusion/Syringe Pumps 

·        CVP Line

·        Tracheostomy Tube

·        Documents all assessments, interventions & other information in the patient’s health care record in a timely & ongoing manner 

·        Promotes continuity of care through oral written communication, developing nursing care plan for the critical ill patient

·        Demonstrates effective communication skills when interacting with patients, families such as Health Education and Information of Treatment/Management & collaboration with other health care team members

·        Acts as patient advocate by supporting the basic rights, values and beliefs of the patient.

·        Complies with the hospital Infection Control & Safety Protocols
