Job Description:
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a research project focused on precision irrigation and sustainable wheat production in saline sandy soils of arid regions. The successful candidate will contribute to field- and laboratory-based study for subsurface irrigation technologies, water-use efficiency, and plant–soil–microbe interactions under saline and arid environmental conditions.Minimum Qualification PhD in Horticulture Sciences, Plant Molecular Biology, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience in field-based wheat research and experimental design Strong background in plant stress physiology and molecular regulation of salinity tolerance Experience with omics-based data analysis (transcriptomics and/or microbiome studies)Preferred Qualification Field-level irrigation experiments: Design, implement, and manage field trials using subsurface and conventional drip irrigation systems under fresh and saline water regimes Irrigation performance monitoring: Monitor soil moisture patterns, water retention, and irrigation efficiency in sandy soil using appropriate analytical tools Soil physicochemical analysis: Characterize soil properties including salinity, nutrient status, and moisture-related parameters throughout the cropping cycle Wheat phenotyping and yield assessment: Conduct plant phenotyping, including root system characterization, growth measurements, and yield-related trait quantification Plant stress physiology and molecular analysis: Assess physiological, biochemical, and molecular responses of wheat to salinity Soil microbiome analysis: Contribute to microbial community profiling using 16S rRNA sequencing and interpret microbial changes in relation to irrigation practices Transcriptomic analysis: Support RNA-seq-based transcriptomic studies to identify regulatory networks involved in salinity stress tolerance. Data integration and reporting: Integrate irrigation, soil, microbial, and plant datasets Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including agronomists, soil scientists, irrigation engineers, and molecular biologistsExpected Skills Experience with precision or subsurface irrigation systems in arid or saline environments Familiarity with sandy soil management and water-use efficiency strategies Experience integrating plant, soil, and microbial datasets Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Proven ability to publish in peer-reviewed journalsClose Date Kindly apply before the closing date.24/03/2026ApplyDepartmentDivisionGradePosting NumberPosition Number
