Job Description:Pacific International Lines (PIL): HR & Administration Manager – Maputo, Mozambique Driving Connectivity in Global Shipping Pacific International Lines (PIL), a leading global shipping company with over 55 years of experience, is seeking a proactive and experienced HR & Administration Manager to oversee human resources and administrative operations at our Maputo office. Position Summary The HR & Administration Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of human resources and administrative functions for the Maputo office, including recruitment, employee lifecycle management, payroll, performance management, and office administration. This role ensures compliance with local labor laws and alignment with company standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong HR expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities Business Partnering & Talent Acquisition: Collaborate with business leaders to address employee-related matters and support operational needs. Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, focusing on effective employee retention and engagement. Liaise with HR Headquarters Centers of Excellence (COEs) regarding talent management, compensation, benefits, and HR processes. Manage end-to-end hiring processes for all departments, including conducting interviews, salary negotiations, and facilitating internal transfers. Maintain strong relationships with recruitment partners to ensure consistency and cost-effectiveness. Compensation & Benefits: Accurately prepare and review monthly payroll in a timely manner. Ensure compensation and benefits packages remain competitive and aligned with market standards. Maintain accurate personnel records and manage updates within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Financial & Reporting Support: Monitor administrative budgets and implement cost-control measures. Prepare regular reports on compliance, operational efficiency, and administrative Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Performance Management: Coordinate the performance appraisal process, salary reviews, and career development discussions. Support management in implementing talent development action plans. Training & Talent Development: Collaborate with managers to identify training needs and assist in the development of individual development plans. Contribute to succession planning for key roles in partnership with line managers. Employee Relations: Promote a positive and productive workplace environment through effective communication and engagement initiatives. Manage employee relations and disciplinary matters, ensuring fair and timely resolution. Support line managers in providing coaching and performance improvement guidance. Office & Facilities Management: Oversee office facilities, property, vehicles, security, and general administrative operations. Leadership Responsibilities: Assist in the execution of HR strategies aligned with company objectives. Ensure smooth and efficient HR and administrative operations, adhering to compliance standards. Contribute to fostering an engaged and high-performance workplace culture. Recommend improvements to HR and administrative processes, incorporating best practices. Stay abreast of changes in labor laws and ensure compliance across all HR and administrative functions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. 5-7 years of relevant HR experience, preferably within a multinational or global organization. Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, and disciplinary procedures. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Portuguese. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. Desired Attributes Strategic thinking and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong negotiation skills for managing vendor and supplier relationships. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of the shipping and logistics industry (preferred).
