Job Description

  1. Forecasts goals and objectives for sales, gross and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.
  2. Hires, motivates, counsels and monitors the performance of all used-vehicle sales employee.
  3. Prepares and administers an annual operating forecast and budget for the used-vehicle sales employee.
  4. Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect used-vehicle sales.
  5. Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees, ensuring proper staffing always.
  6. Assists individual sales person in setting aggressive yet realistic monthly goals and objectives and provides them with the support to meet these goals.
  7. Ensures proper follow-up of all potential buyers by developing, implementing and monitoring a prospecting and sales control system.
  8. Develops, implements and monitors a follow up system for used vehicle purchasers.
  9. Maintains vehicle inventory, monitors customer likes and dislikes, lost sales, and dealership sales history and conducts local market analysis to determine which vehicle to stock.
  10. Processes salesperson commission sheets daily and monitors the payroll records of all used-vehicle salesperson.
  11. Conducts daily and weekly sales and sales training meeting.
  12. Establishes and enforces product-knowledge standards.
  13. Oversees the efforts of used-vehicle salesperson to enhance the image and customer satisfaction ratings of the dealership.
  14. Assists salespeople to close a deal.
  15. Ensures 100% turnover to each customers to F&I.
  16. Communicates daily with the new-vehicle sales manager regarding units needed for used-vehicle inventory.
  17. Ensures that used-vehicle salespeople are informed of all new inventory and current advertising efforts, including special sales.
  18. Studies newspaper ads and any other sources available to find a good-quality, low-mileage units.
  19. Enforces a pre-determined day turn policy.
  20. Appraises all incoming used vehicles.
  21. Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical conditioning is performed within the dealership’s cost and time limitations.
  22. Plans and controls the display of used vehicles.
  23. Establishes and controls wholesaling activities.
  24. Establishes delivery procedures and ensures that delivery includes an introduction to the service department and scheduling of the first service department.
  25. assists in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.
  26. Keeps abreast of auto auction activity and prices and attends auctions of a regular basis.
  27. Approves all paperwork from auctions and provides proper documentation to the office for purchases.
  28. Notifies the used vehicle department manager of anticipated delivery of purchases.
  29. Tracks results of auction purchases and compares gross profits of auction vehicles with those of trade-ins.
  30. Develops and maintains outside sources (wholesales and retailers) for both buying and selling units.
  31. Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership guidelines.
  32. Attends manager meetings.
  33. Maintains professional appearance.
  34. Other tasks assigned.
