Position Summary: The Head of Sourcing and Process is responsible for establishing, executing and maintaining the overall IDAR Statistical Programming and Analytics (SP&A) outsourcing strategy, in line with IDAR SP&A needs. Working in close collaboration with global IDAR SP&A functional leadership, Janssen R&D Procurement and External Alliance Management they are responsible for defining and implementing the sourcing framework across suppliers, ensuring quality and timeliness of functional deliverables. The position is also responsible for managing the process development framework within SP&A, ensuring currency of existing processes and effective development and rollout of new processes. This includes maintaining an inventory of current and ongoing processes and process development efforts, managing the approval process, as well as supporting rollout, including the development and maintenance of training. In addition, this position is responsible for the development and reporting of SP&A metrics, using metrics driven insights to identify and inform continuous improvement efforts. As a people manager, they are responsible for the management and development of all employees within their organization to meet current and future business needs. Reporting into the Head of SP&A, this position ensures the execution of the IDAR SP&A mission and vision, as related to functional outsourcing, process and metrics. Principal Responsibilities: Responsible for establishing and maintaining the overall SP&A outsourcing strategy and execution Determines the SP&A functional outsourcing strategy, together with the Head of SP&A and the SP&A leadership team. Oversees that the appropriate outsourcing strategy is applied. Work with cross functional partners to gain efficiencies where applicable. Oversees strategy and supplier refresh initiatives and ensures continuous improvement of sourcing processes is implemented. Identifies and implements innovative approaches together with our partners and vendors to enhance SP&A productivity and effectiveness Is responsible for ensuring portfolio review activities are occurring, and that these activities lead to actionable forecasts across all suppliers. Participates in issue escalation activities, ensuring systemic issues are resolved in a manner that avoids reoccurrence. Takes a leadership role in developing resourcing and cost models with IDAR’s strategic partners and functional vendors. Oversee process maintenance and development activities across SP&A o Facilitates the process review and approval framework. Ensure LT input and approval is obtained for all proposed process initiatives. Oversees the framework supporting process development teams. Assist in rollout and development of training. Maintains an inventory of current SP&A processes, ensure periodic review is performed and any process or training updates are implemented as needed. Takes a leadership role in the development and implementation of process improvements, guidelines and departmental policies, as related to handoffs/working with functional suppliers. Development and reporting of SP&A metrics Work cross functionally in the development and reporting of metrics to provide business intelligence to the IDAR LT. Develops and reports on SP&A level metrics. Works with the SP&A LT to translate metrics into actionable efficiencies. Portfolio/Resource review, forecasting and recruiting o Facilitates quarterly portfolio reviews, identifying additional permanent or consultant headcount as well as opportunities for full outsourcing. Manages the recruiting efforts for new contract and permanent staff Ensures Janssen supply systems are maintained (JJEDS, 1-Supply) Manage training and time reporting compliance for permanent and new staff. Provides leadership to the sourcing and process team by attracting and retaining top talent, developing team members, and ensuring organizational effectiveness, transparency, and communication Regularly meets with department staff in his/her area to ensure appropriate progress activities and projects. Ensures working environment and infrastructure is adequate to meet departmental needs Ensures compliance with department SOP’s, WI’s, policies and regulatory guidance documents. Principal Relationships: This position reports to the IDAR SP&A Global Head. Functional Contacts within Janssen (as collaborator and peer) include but are not limited to IDAR SP&A Leadership Team and project teams, employees from other departments within Global Development, Quantitative Sciences, Bio Research Quality & Compliance; Human Resources; Finance, IT, Janssen R&D Procurement and External Alliances. External contacts include but are not limited to external partners including CRO operational committees and industry peers and working groups. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, mathematics, data science/analytics, or other relevant scientific field (or equivalent theoretical/technical depth) required. Advanced Degree (Master’s, PhD or equivalent) preferred. Approximately 10 to 12+ years of experience in a leadership function in clinical operations with expert knowledge in statistical programming or equivalent industry experience. Excellent people leadership skills. People management experience of 5-7+ years is strongly preferred. 5+ years of project management. Demonstrated track record of working with and overseeing vendors. A good understanding of clinical development and statistical programming practices. Good knowledge of regulatory guidance documents such as ICH requirements. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiation and influencing Skills: Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and decision-making skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to build relationships, act as change agent, and adapt to rapidly changing organizational & business challenges. Demonstrated experience working in a customer focused environment. Demonstrated innovative thinking to allow for optimal execution of clinical development strategies.
