Job Description:Job Description Job Title: Insurance Support Specialist Job Purpose: To provide first-line support to the Insurance Line Manager, ensuring adequate, efficient, and cost-effective insurance coverage for the company’s personnel, assets, earnings, liabilities, and environmental exposures. This role provides technical support on all insurance-related matters, consistent with the company’s Group Corporate Risk Management and Insurance Policy and Program. Key Accountabilities: Policy Enhancement & Review: Assist the Insurance Line Manager by studying and recommending changes to enhance policy coverage based on risk management studies, estimated maximum loss (EML) assessments, and company risk financing and retention guidelines. Contractual Compliance: Revise and update indemnity and insurance clauses, insurance articles, contractor policies, and other agreements to ensure alignment with Group Standard Indemnity and Insurance conditions. Market Awareness: Update policy wording for both blanket and project policies by monitoring and staying current with trends in local and international insurance markets. Stakeholder Management: Liaise closely with surveyors and adjusters appointed by insurers and reinsurers. Claims Monitoring & Support: Monitor and review periodic claims status, statistics, loss ratios, and profit-sharing arrangements. Provide support in the preparation, negotiation, and technical adjustments of claims across various policies. Assist the Insurance Line Manager in developing, promoting, and monitoring claims procedures. Technical Assistance: Provide advice and technical assistance on diverse insurance-related issues. Tender Evaluation: Conduct and coordinate technical evaluations of tenderers for various insurance contracts. Policy Placement: Assist the Insurance Line Manager in preparing tenders, negotiating, and placing cost-effective blanket and direct insurance policies. Claims Resolution: Follow up and coordinate the finalization of outstanding claims by gathering necessary documentation and ensuring claim settlement by the insurer. Generic Accountabilities: Supervision: Plan, supervise, and coordinate activities within the assigned area to meet functional objectives. Train and develop staff on relevant skills to ensure proficiency and achievement of section objectives. Budgeting: Provide input for departmental/sectional budget preparation and assist in the implementation of approved budgets and work plans to meet section objectives. Investigate and highlight significant variances to support effective performance and cost control. Policies & Procedures: Implement approved departmental/sectional policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support the execution of work programs in accordance with company and international standards. Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and legal regulations. Performance Management: Contribute to the achievement of approved performance objectives for the department/section in line with the company’s performance framework. Innovation & Improvement: Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes. Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices to enhance efficiency and develop solutions for challenges facing the function, aligning with ISO standards. HSE & Sustainability: Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and company Code of Practices. Reporting: Provide inputs to prepare section MIS and progress reports for company management. Internal Communication: Maintain communication with the Line Manager, peers, and other employees within the company/group as required. External Communication: Liaise with external parties, including consultants, third-party service providers, and government agencies as required. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Insurance or a related field. Professional qualification (e.g., Member of the Institute of Chartered Insurance). Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills: A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in insurance. Strong understanding of insurance principles, policies, and regulations. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting. Work Environment: Predominantly air-conditioned office environment, with occasional site visits potentially exposing the incumbent to prevailing weather conditions.
