Job Description
Role Description:
· Serves patients by preparing medications; giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care team; monitoring patient drug therapies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
· Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
· Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
· Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing Pharmacy assistants work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
· Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
· Develops hospital staff’s pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff and health care professionals.
· Complies with state drug laws as regulated by the state’s pharmaceutical and food and drug administration committee , by monitoring nursing unit inspections; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
· Protects patients and staff by adhering to infection-control protocols.
· Ensures quality and patient safety practices are followed in all the process in the inpatient pharmacy
· Provides or promotes patient and family-centered care
· Promotes inclusive health by providing equitable and accessible care to patients and families with special needs
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
· Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental, standards.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
· Attends timely all Phone queries.
Skills
· Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy with valid MOH License.
· At least 2+ years’ experience in the same field
· Proficient in English & Arabic ( Bilingual – Arab National)
· Preferably Male ( not a must)
· Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
· Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
· Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
· Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
· Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
· Excellent verbal communication skills and Customer service
· Knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.
· Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
· Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
