Main Accountabilities:
- Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of inlet, in-process and outlet samples of wastewater and sludge. and report analysis.
Level of Responsibility:
- Equipment: Chemicals – Laboratory tools – Safety Equipment.
Level of Communication:
- Internal Communication: with all the branch employees.
Detailed Job Description:
- Perform routine lab tests on wastewater and sludge: TSS, VSS, SVI, COD, and BOD, Nitrogen species, Total Phosphorus, heavy metals, pH, temperature, hardness, turbidity, conductivity, microscope observation and bacterial culture.
- Monthly testing of gases.
- Monitoring of dewatering process.
- Record daily analysis data.
- Cross check of lab tests with standard methods.
- Prepare monthly lab stock.
- Calibrate lab equipment and sensors (pH meter, BOD sensors).
- Clean lab glassware and maintain lab equipment in good status.
- Extract online daily flow, pH and ORP values.
- Evaluate quality of materials.
- Report daily analysis in the register book.
- Report weekly data of lab testing, NC and diesel reception.
- Prepare monthly data sheets.
- Prepare monthly non-conformities report.
- Test diesel density

- Environment: Wastewater treatment laboratory environment; work with water; exposure to hazardous chemicals, infectious waste.
- Physical: Sufficient physical ability necessary for standing, walking, bending and stooping for prolonged periods of time; to spend time using hands to handle, controls, or feel objects or tools. To work under adverse conditions, this may involve unpleasant odors.
- Must be available to handle emergency situations after hours, weekends and holidays.
- Vision: See in the near visual range with or without correction; the ability to see details at close range, color vision to identify chemical and biological solvents and substances.
- Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
- Deductive Reasoning: The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Skills
Education: A Bachelor degree from an accredited college or University with major course work in biology, chemistry, microbiology, or a related field.
Experience: 1 to 3 years’ experience.
Technical Knowledge:
- Chemistry
Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
- Production & Processing
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Computers and Electronics
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- English Language
Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: Read and comprehend English (policy manuals, memos, letters, books, journals, instructions, rules and regulations, etc.). Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
- Mathematics
Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Other Skills: Communication and organizational skills to cooperate and coordinate – Quality Control Analysis – Active Listening – Reading Comprehension – Monitoring – Importance of Being Exact or Accurate.
