Job Purpose


Reporting to the Global Technical Development Manager, the position will be responsible for training Repair & Maintenance and Field Operations personnel to the level of competency required for their job position. The training will include Workshop and Classroom courses relevant to Managed Pressure Drilling.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for being familiar with the Company’s Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford’s Management System
  • Maintain service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement


  • Develop a basic, intermediate, and advanced technical training curriculum in conjunction with the Technical Instructors and the Segment Technical Development Manager to ensure that all technical training curriculum learning objectives are aligned with the appropriate Product Line competency standards. This will include development of on-line courses and video training sessions.
  • Deliver basic, intermediate, and advanced technical training curriculum in a professional manner, provide detailed assessment of student performance, and provide comprehensive performance feedback to managers on their direct reports
  • Work with Technical Development Manager to evaluate existing training curriculum to ensure accuracy, relevance, consistency and alignment with strategies and goals
  • Perform detailed training needs to determine specific curriculum development requirements
  • Support the Operations group in developing and completing all required competency standards for their personnel, assisting in their progressions and acting as a Global Assessor where required
  • Manage the Segment Asset resources to ensure that all training classes are adequately resourced with tools and equipment
  • Assist in achieving all training department goals and objectives
  • Adhere to Training department policies and procedures
  • Maintain and foster a safe working environment at all times


  • Operate in an efficient and cost-effective manner and within established budgets
  • Understand and support measurements of the return of investments
  • All employees have an accountability to the organization to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expenses
  • Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure


  • Build a training schedule with the Segment Technical Development Manager that meets the business need
  • Provide classes at the Training Centers and locations as determined by the Technical Development Manager
  • Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Supervisors & Managers should communicate expectations, roles, and responsibilities to their reports


  • Employees have a responsibility for developing their own careers within the Company including completing all necessary function, compliance & business standards training to enhance their knowledge, skills and experience
  • Employees should engage on a regular basis with their line manager to discuss their personal performance, objectives and opportunities to enhance their skills and experience to support their career potential

Additional relevant information about the role 

  • This position is an office & workshop-based job
  • The training to be delivered will be workshop and classroom
  • International travel with be a big part of the position
