Job Description:**Financial Controller**
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly qualified Financial Controller to manage the daily operations of the accounting department. This individual will be responsible for the preparation and management of PAUSEAWAY’s financial budgets, and for implementing and overseeing all financial activities related to managed properties, ensuring compliance with local tax laws. Responsibilities include financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, auditing and control, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital, and cash control. Furthermore, the Financial Controller will ensure the secure maintenance and updating of all legal documentation pertaining to the financial status of PAUSEAWAY and its managed properties.
**Responsibilities:**
* Manage the financial records and accounting department for both the primary brand and all managed properties.
* Verify all financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant governmental regulations.
* Provide direct oversight of accounting staff, including training and professional development.
* Assist in monitoring, evaluating, and maintaining internal controls, corporate policies, and procedures.
* Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, encompassing bank reconciliations, among others.
* Prepare various monthly closing entries and assist with the month-end closing process, analysis, and reporting.
* Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts.
* Prepare and file monthly and quarterly tax returns.
* Support management in controlling costs within the established budget and forecast.
* Participate in the completion of the annual budgeting process.
* Assist in identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement and profit improvement in property operations.
* Achieve and surpass established performance, budget, and team goals.
**Requirements:**
* Minimum of seven (7) years of proven experience as a Financial Controller or Assistant Financial Controller within the hospitality and construction industries.
* Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, accounting software, and database management.
* Knowledge of Hotel Software and Property Management Systems (e.g., FIDELIO, OPERA, Protel).
* Demonstrated excellence in financial and business decision-making.
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proven ability to direct and supervise.
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or CFA certifications are highly desirable.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
