This position offers an opportunity to lead a remote team of engineers within your time zone. The successful candidate will be responsible for talent development through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career guidance. The role involves setting and managing expectations with other engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders.

As an active member of the leadership team, the incumbent will collaborate with other organizational leaders. Responsibilities include working with the team to develop clean web service APIs, utilizing Python (and optionally Golang), to support both CLI and web frontend clients. Engagement with various teams at Canonical, the open-source community, and commercial partners is also expected.

**Required Qualifications**

Candidates should possess significant experience in leading modern, agile software development practices. Demonstrated experience in cultivating a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values is essential. Furthermore, a proven track record of serving as a role model for sound engineering principles and directly contributing to team goals is required. The position necessitates a willingness to travel up to four times per year for internal events. A passion for mentoring, developing, and fostering the growth of team members, substantiated by a history of success in this area, is paramount.

A strong knowledge of and enthusiasm for software development are expected. The ideal candidate will be success-oriented and dedicated to the timely delivery of high-quality software. They will value and cultivate a positive team culture and spirit, with demonstrable experience and commitment to agile development methodologies. Proficiency in Python software development is essential; experience in Golang is highly desirable.

Effective written and verbal communication skills are critical. Practical experience with Linux system administration is also required.

**Compensation and Benefits**

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, knowledge, skills, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for additional benefits and rewards, including annual bonuses and sales incentives based on revenue or utilization.
