The University of Doha for Science and Technology is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Employee Relations Specialist in the Human Capital Directorate. Reporting to the Manager, Talent Management, the Employee Relations Specialist must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Human Capital Directorate in fully implementing the university’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:     

This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will develop and implement employee relation policies, processes and frameworks in alignment with HC Strategy and UDST objectives. The Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for continually supporting positive, productive working relationships between management and employees. The Employee Relations Specialist will also act as an HC Business Partner by conducting regular interactive sessions with Business Units and working on setting priorities, driving values and delivering business results.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of industry experience related to employee relations and conflict resolution. . The successful candidate will act as a focal point of contact with the business units to understand business process, business needs, challenges & opportunities and will have the ability to juggle multiple priorities without compromising quality.

Candidates will establish and maintain UDST’s employee performance management framework, supporting the following: goal setting, periodic reviews / check-ins, feedback cycle, periodic performance review and appraisal, formal/informal feedback session, rating scale, and alignment of the performance ratings / results with rewards. She/he will gather and analyze performance review data across all Business units and prepare reports sorting employees based on performance for leadership discussions.

Candidates will be responsible for regular operations of time and attendance management ensuring the process is handled smoothly meeting the expected deliverables. She/he will review time attendance sheets, raise any escalations to the line manager for further action as well as, support with the disciplinary aspects of the Time and Attendance system, as required by the Manager, Talent Management.

Candidates will act as a coach for employees and business unit managers in finding the best solutions for day-to-day employee issues, supporting the Business Unit Heads in the interpretation of employee relations policies and procedures, as appropriate and responding to queries based on employee relations policies, procedures and guidelines

Candidates will participate in the progressive discipline process including investigating, advising managers, preparing documentation, attending discipline meetings, and performing related duties. She/he will assist in conducting workplace investigations involving harassment, employee misconduct, and other actions of indiscipline, develop and implement conflict and alternative dispute resolution strategies including acting as a mediator to assist in resolving conflict between employees and provide guidance and support on disciplinary issues to line managers during formal disciplinary action processes.

Candidates will monitor non-academic staff compliance with relevant policies related to grievance and disciplinary actions, respond to employee violations of policy, and generally help to resolve conflict in the workplace. Assist in investigating and conducting disciplinary cases, prepare case briefs, and follow up with regards to the agreed / decided actions.

Candidates will monitor adherence to the employee code of conduct and manage employee grievances, develop and deliver training and information sessions on employee relations topics,  provide support with managing and monitoring any reported grievances, appeals and disciplinary procedures as well as, liaise with business unit managers/ heads to support them in people management.

Candidates will also suggest recommendations to Manager, Talent Management on rewards and recognition program that can be executed by Human Capital Directorate for recognizing and motivating performing employees.
