**Deputy Manager – In-Plant Logistics Operations**
The Deputy Manager – In-Plant Logistics Operations will support the Logistics team in overseeing the comprehensive execution of in-plant logistics activities, encompassing the truck park area, dock, internal/external warehouses, marketplace, and manufacturing lineside locations. This role will assist in warehouse and packaging operations, dock management, and ensure the uninterrupted flow of parts to production lines to meet established targets. The Deputy Manager will contribute to the implementation of cost-effective and lean storage and movement of goods, while upholding stringent standards of safety, service, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic perspective, experience in digital transformation, and demonstrated team-building and communication proficiencies.
**Responsibilities:**
* Lead and manage daily logistics operations across transportation, warehousing, and distribution functions.
* Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize service levels, reduce costs, and support business growth.
* Oversee logistics planning for inbound, outbound, and reverse logistics, ensuring timely and accurate material flow.
* Manage 3PL relationships, contracts, and performance metrics; conduct regular reviews and negotiations.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, production, planning, and customer service to align logistics activities.
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, transportation cost per unit, inventory accuracy, and warehouse productivity.
* Ensure full compliance with all regulations, safety, and environmental standards related to logistics operations.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
* Implement digital tools and analytics to enhance logistics visibility, planning, and decision-making.
* Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team, including managers, analysts, and warehouse/transport supervisors.
* Support new product launches, warehouse expansions, and supply chain transformation projects.
* Manage, coach and develop a highly performing team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
* Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
* Monitor and ensure that staff under supervision maintain accurate material schedules to get the right materials on site at the right time
* Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors
* Input and hold responsibility for Material Planning budgets
**Qualifications:**
* Comprehensive understanding of logistics, transportation, warehouse operations, inventory management, and personnel management.
* Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
* Seven to ten years of progressive experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations.
* A minimum of two to three years of experience in automotive logistics operations or a supervisory/team lead role.
* Experience supporting large teams and complex distribution networks.
